Just the one idiotic comment out of all the idiotic comments he's made?

Yeah. Sure they are.

Nah - they're just worried his stupid comments will make it harder to pass that f-ed up abortion bill in the next special session.

Exactly. The more they talk about Davis, the more fired up her supporters become. While I think it's clear that this abortion bill will be passed, the Republicans have been damaged by the whole debate and their actions.

Unfortunately this.

It isn't just that, he got personal with a fellow Texan. I would be willing to bet if he said some of similar caliber about someone out of state no one would care at all.

Yeah but it's still Texas.

Too bad. The distinguished governor of the State of Texas represents: 1) The majority elected voice of the citizens of the State of Texas, 2) The best of the national Republican Party. 3) I forget.

Joe Strauss backhanded Rick Perry over his dumbass remarks the other day?

[grumpycatgood]

I actually like Strauss. He recently resolidified his hold on his gig as Speaker despite a Teahaddist backlash against his mainstream Republicanism who started an unsuccessful "Oust Strauss" campaign. He's one of the few Texas pols with enough balls and brains to balk at Perry gutting education funding in that state.

As far as Texas Republicans go Joe Stauss is one of the good ones.

/Perry needs to go.

The people of Texas haven't drawn and quartered him politically for covering up the execution of a possibly innocent man simply because it might hurt his election chances.

They deserve this wankstain.

I thought it was a great point to make.

why can't she see that people, taking personal responsibly, can still succeed despite having a child. Maybe if we demanded more personal responsibility of women instead of encouraging them to kill their unborn children, we would have less women in these circumstances.

There are no unborn children.  No one encourages abortion in any case.

Please stop being a hyperbolic douche bag.

Like I said. If we just promised Jesus not only to have sex, none of this would happen.

Not necessarily. Save it for marriage where the child will have the best chance for a happy life, or take personal responsibility and have the child.

Yeah. My class was taught this and 10+ people still got pregnant.

Why do we keep relying on failed strategies?

Paying for an abortion is taking personal responsibility for your actions.   Action A had consequence, you dealt with consequence.

You think a woman who has made the tough personal choice to abort a fetus because early testing showed some massive insurmountable physical defect is NOT taking personal responsibility?

Really?

Wow. You can just FO and die now.

I say it takes a lot of personal responsibility to have an abortion.  Otherwise it would take, what, impersonal responsibility? Clearly someone is responsible.

Also, clump of cells =/= baby

Furthermore, there are no unborn children.  There are children, and there are unborn fetuses (or zygotes, etc).  An unborn child is just a fantasy.  Like Jesus.

Are you trying to say that a woman who raised a child and went to Harvard Law and served in the Texas legislature DIDN'T fulfill her responsibilities?

My version of "personal responsibility": Women have control over their reproduction.
Your version of "personal responsibility": Women will be forced to give birth because I say so.

So tell me again which one is the punishment?

To be fair, he (she?) recommended abstinence, not abstinence-only education.  The former works (and not just for me), while the latter doesn't.
