Anytime you say "unfortunately." it's not a compliment

I'm not a Baptist but I'll defend your right to be one.

WTF is Perry saying?

Proceed, Governor...

Perry already mansplained to you why the Texas legislature needs firm control of your womb, but you stupid broads still don't get it. Well, that's the reason.

Stupid broads.

2013-06-29 11:00:11 AM
That Davis broad just needs to accept the fact that Rick Perry learned more from her life experiences than she did.  Then we can all move on and get back to GOP female outreach.

Perry is as dumb as a box of rocks.  The governorship of Texas was carefully designed for people who are dumb as boxes of rocks.

FSM help us if we put another dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks Texas governor in the White House.  Imagine this peabrain on the world stage.  Oh wait, you don't have to imagine. You only need to review the series of gaffes and foreign policy disasters that characterized every minute of the Dubya administration.  Perry might resolve to outdo his drydrunk predecessor, and for example, actually goose Merkel, or tell Putin he believes they're eternal soul mates.

Republicans generally don't praise people for overcoming their circumstance.  They call such a person Uppity.  And tell them to learn their place.

odd that such a bootstrappy woman would run afoul of Perry.

God, I hope she kicks his ass to the curb in 2014. Perry seems to have really overplayed his hand here. Unfortunately, Texas

I have three big reasons why I hate Rick Perry.

One, he's the epitome of today's GOP.  Good hair, corrupt as a Middle Ages priest and dumb as a bag of retarded rocks.

Two, he seems to delight in signing off on state executions.

Three, umm, I forgot.  Oops.

No small praise coming from a man who overcame severe mental and intellectual impairment to not only "graduate" from a "prestigious university", but become ruler and warlord of a large swath of sun-scorched wasteland.

Good on him.

ftfa-  "They are small words that reflect a dark and negative point of view," she said in a statement. "Our governor should reflect our Texas values. Sadly, Gov. Perry fails that test."

I agree with Wendy, but in this case she's sadly mistaken. Perry is the perfect representation of the typical Texan dipshiat.
/Not you, Austinites, San Antonians, etc, before you cry foul, but the whole rest of your shiatty backwards racist asshole retard state. Perry is your farking champion, asswipes.

Here's how it rolls....

Changes to the Voting Act will mean that in 2014 the GOP makes major sweep across the country and it puts the "derp" level into warp zone. They get what they want except for the White House.

After the election all the stunts the GOP did to get votes, gerrymandering, voter suppression, voter ID cards, this causes the Fed Gov't to take over the whole process from the states.

2016 comes in and any state that is even barely Red will have been flush with anti-abortion, anti-science, anti-womens rights, anti-immigration and anti-black legislation.  The Tea Party still splits the ticket with Rand Paul leading the way.

This is turn makes for an ass-kicking of near epic proportions thanks to boots-on-the-ground organizing of voters and anyone who isn't an upper-class white male thinking that were very near political Armageddon.

Riots break out lead by Tea Party radicals.  National Guard is called in and they are either shot on sight or subdued and sent to Gitmo as an enemy combatant.

....okay, so the last part is wishful thinking.

Yeah, that last part might be pushing it.  I'll take the RW becoming so fractionalized it no longer is a political force for the forseeable future and that corporations go all-in with the GOP and find out they're all on an island.

2013-06-29 11:37:28 AM
The GOP is like the cow in "Me Myself and Irene".

It's bloated, dying, and being an asshole for blocking everyone, but it just won't die.

It's amazing that most defenses of Republicans these days seem to center around whether they're being an asshole on purpose or are too stupid to know better. I'm not sure which is worse really.

2013-06-29 11:52:56 AM
It's one thing to overcome circumstances through one's own volition. It's entirely another to turn around and force people to go through those exact same circumstances simply because one person managed to pull through.

Actually I don't think the changes to the Voting Rights Act will result in a repub win. What it means is that in the run-up to the 2014 election the Democrats will be hiring buses and pro bono lawyers to move poor voters en masse to registration locations and making sure everyone gets a photo ID. And then those same buses and pro bono lawyers will make sure all those voters make it to the polls and have their votes counted. During the last attempt to suppress the vote, repub legislatures snuck in poll taxes at the last moment, but this time around they will be pushing their agenda far in advance of the election. Instead of suppressing the vote, they will be ensuring a massive Democratic victory in the Senate and presaging a changing of the guard in gerrymandered districts.

2013-06-29 12:00:12 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if he genuinely thought he was praising her. After all, he is the man who said this:

And just remember: the louder the opposition screams, the more we know we're doing something right.

Without a hint of understanding about why people might object to it.
