@bhcompy You're right that Mexican isn't a race, but as someone who is half Hispanic (Mexican-American), I know there is prejudice between Hispanics. I know many Mexican Americans who do not care for Puerto Ricans and/or Central Americans and vice versa. Your example is a crappy one b/c she may not be racist, she's just ignorant.

Yeah, it is is an amazing graphic. I remember when it came out too and the bubble blindness astounded me.

I know a few people who may qualify as some of those in depicted. But the other 99% of the people I know have incomes that are less than the taxes those people pay. Yet they pay the same for a gallon of gas, a loaf of bread etc etc etc.

Think you so much for your concern, Sarah, but you and your ilk don't consider me to be a "Real American" so you can kiss my brown ass.

What the hell is that? They tried to prove some kind of point to the American public by showing an assortment of six-figure earners?

I'm thinking that the target clientele isn't actually able to read, the point being that there are people frowning and numbers in RED because OBAMA.

I really do like how miserable people who make a quarter-million a year look when they lose $3k. Meanwhile, median person has to work 5 years for every one of theirs. They like to pretend they make all that money because they work HARDER rather than they got lucky in the genetics lottery plus the circumstances of their birth family.

I love how every one of those people--including the "single mom"-- has INVESTMENT INCOME along with their other income.

I know a lot of people with various sorts of income; but I know only two with "investment income". And none of them are single parents.

Oh here's an interesting fact I picked up:

'Bristol' is slang for 'tits.'

If you google 'Rhyming slang' or 'cockney rhyming slang' you get a crash course on rhyming slang; one will say it originated in England (among poor folk in order to disguise what they're discussing) and 'Bristol cities' rhymes with 'titties' so you could say something like 'look at her bristol cities' and the person you're talking to would of course have to understand that you're speaking in rhyme and then they'd understand you're talking about her tits.

They look like they work in the service industry and that is their work uniform.

Well, I guess that's an upgrade from a turkey being fed head first into a wood chipper.

Sad that the best thing one can say about a Sarah Palin photo op is "well, at least no one got fed into a wood chipper this time."

""You've just abandoned the Reagan Democrats with this amnesty bill," Palin's statement read."

For fark's sake. The last amnesty program, the Immigration Reform and Control Act, was passed under Reagan's administration. Your point is not valid just because you invoke the name "Reagan," you stupid twit.

Pincy: So do all the dudes here still want to get with her?  At what point does her lack of functioning brain cells make her unattractive?

I heard about her on Fark before McCain chose her, so I wasn't as surprised as some people.  I'd seen some pics, thought they weren't bad.

Then Palin gave her first public speech as VP candidate, and I lost all attraction for her, forever.

bhcompy: MFAWG: I hear this anecdotal evidence all the time, but have yet to speak to an actual Latino or Hispanic that actually feels that way.,

The most outspoken one I know is a coworker from El Salvador.  She also doesn't like Mexicans because she thinks their Spanish is awful.

You don't, but do you acknowledge that there are people that do feel that way?  If so, why is it so difficult to believe the other?

Yes, and they are douche bags.

So you know one, and they are racist.

Shining examole there.

1) Mexican isn't a race, it's a country of origin
2) GP already lumped in "hispanics and latinos" and Salvadorans are part of that same group
3) Moving goalpost

1. Jfc, don't be an idiot. If you want to be technical there are no such things as different races of homosapien anyway.

2. So if the GOP cannot tell the difference between distinct groups out of ignorance, then you are going to cite them as an authority on the matter

I thought we were talking about YOUR experiences with all the people telling you how upset they were about illegal immigration. Who cares which races the Republicans want ignorantly lump together?

3. I moved no goalposts.

I'm sure everyone my age remembers how indignant older black people were after the civil rights marches ended segregation.  They would fume when they saw a young black man sitting in the restaurant of his choice, eating crackers* like he owned the place.

*unintentional pun

Similar to how older women were indignant to see younger women have the right to choose to have a safe, legal abortion, instead of being limited to the choices of illegal, dangerous abortion or the social stigma of single motherhood and poverty.
