bubba_2ba: Damn teabaggers, ramming through their pro-corporation agenda. Obama pledged to "support legislation ...to institute a permanent ban on horse slaughter and exports of horses for human consumption" http://animallawcoalition.com/pres-obama-keep-promise-support-equine- s laughter-ban/ and those damn Republicans found some way to legalize horse meat anyway.Oh... "Mr. Obama signed the spending bill by autopen on Nov. 18. He was traveling in Asia at the time the bill was presented to him, so he used the automated signature machine for the second time in his presidency."http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/nov/30/obama-congress-resto re -us-horse-slaughter-industry/?page=allWell, he's gonna fix it now... you can't blame him -- or any Democrat -- for not actually reading HR2112, right?
Bucky Katt: Some people don't have standards.
Korzine: Can't see the article so, will the meat be sold in the US or is it for export only? I certainly wouldn't mind trying horse if they sell it here. It would be another thing to add to my list of "Creatures I've Eaten" at anyrate.

FabulousFreep: An estimated 130,000 U.S. horses are shipped annually to slaughter in Canada and Mexico. Groups have quarreled for a decade whether a ban on slaughter will save horses from a cruel death or lead to abandonment by owners of animals they cannot afford to feed or treat for illness.Banning their slaughter on US soil won't stop them from dieing it just means they have to be shipped to Canada or Mexico where we have no control over it and can't tax it or tax it's sale, not to mention the income taxes associated with the workers. They will be taken to Mexico and killed in whatever way is cheapest then packed as beef and sold to the unwary.
