Why is this in the sports section?

I saw him wrestle Hacksaw in White Plains five years ago. He came out, it smelled like booze all of a sudden, him and Hacksaw "wrestled" (Greg Valentine carried Hacksaw's flag which got tangled when he waived it in a fans face and he just left ringside), he went to the back, it stopped smelling like booze. It was the saddest thing I have ever seen in a wrestling ring.RIP, Clown.

He had switched to Joker clown makeup at this point.

Thanks. I always wanted to be that guy.

Anyway, the legend goes that when he was in ECW Paul E. told him it was ok to work some overseas dates that he had then told him there was no spot for him when he came back.

If that's the same show I remember reading about, there was some legit beef between Duggan and Bourne, and what was supposed to be a wrestling match ended up turning into a shoot fight between the two.

Doink was doing a lot a running away so it is entirely possible.

Later in the show Danny Doring did a flying splash from the balcony through a local beanpole on a table.  The Guardian Angels kept everyone away and the show took a long intermission. The kids whole family was there and they looking pretty worried as the kid was taken away in an ambulance.  I asked the kid's brother later and he said he talked to him and he was fine but I would imagine he was pretty bruised up the next day (month).

12 men who wrestled on WWE PPV in 1993 are dead: Doink, Crush, Savage, Owen, Bossman, Bigelow, Hennig, Booger, Quake, Yoko, Borga, and Gonzalez

Add others from that year like Sherri, Luna, Bearer, Marella, Monsoon, and Tunney, and it just keeps getting sadder.

Summerslam '90 has a higher deathrate than this site is giving it,...

Paul Roma & Hercules defeated Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty at 6:00
Kerry Von Erich pinned WWF IC Champion Mr. Perfect (w/ Bobby Heenan) at 5:15
Sensational Sherri defeated Sapphire via forfeit
The Warlord (w/ Slick) pinned Tito Santana at 5:28
Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart defeated WWF Tag Team Champions Demolition (Crush & Smash with Ax) at 14:24 in a Best 2 out of 3 falls match to win the titles;
Jake Roberts defeated Bad News Brown via disqualification at 4:44
Jim Duggan & Nikolai Volkoff defeated the Orient Express (w/ Mr. Fuji) at 3:22
Randy Savage pinned Dusty Rhodes at 2:15
Hulk Hogan (w/ the Big Bossman) defeated Earthquake (w/ Jimmy Hart & Dino Bravo) via count-out at 13:16

Plus, the Legion of Doom was there, which means Hawk adds to the total.

/Heel Doink is best Doink.

To be fair, Bam Bam, Earthquake, Crush, Giant Gonzalez, and Yokozuna were all SIGNIFICANTLY and obsenely obese. It was only a matter of time before their hearts gave out. It doesn't matter if they were wrestlers, footballers, or anything else.

One night some years back I was hanging out with a friend at a drug dealer's house, waiting for the 'shrooms to kick in, when in walked an angry, shirtless midget. Coincidentally I was just beginning to feel the mushrooms, but this was no hallucination. He was drunk as shiat and raving about how someone had keyed his car. Even though he was a midget he was ripped as hell, and he had a bat, so I was starting to think I might get my ass kicked by a little guy and that I should probably start thinking of a good lie ASAP. We all assured him that we hadn't keyed his car and convinced him to look elsewhere, and shortly thereafter I decided to GTFO before I started really tripping balls. I lived nearby, and as we were walking my friend told me that he had met the midget once before, and that he was, no bullshiat, a former wrestler who had spent quite a bit of time as Doink the clown's midget sidekick.

He was from my hometown in PA. A  friend of mine owned a bar and when Doink came in, the party stopped.  He was an a-hole drunk and always looking for a fight.

Crush and Giant Gonzalez "obese"?

On what planet?

Crush was taller than normal, but fairly normal in weight. Giant Gonzalez was 7'7" and thin as a rail.

Talented worker. Entertained me as a child. Probably a pretty nasty person. Still too young to die.

Here he is against Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania I in 1985 in his pre-Doink days.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Bam Bam died from cocaine. Earthquake of cancer. Crush was not obese and while his cause of death wasn't officially released, it is believed to be due to pill mixing. Giant Gonzalez was a beanpole, and died from diabetes ruining his kidneys. Yokozuna is the only person on your list who fits the bill of "big huge fat guy who died young because he was a big huge fat guy." Bam Bam was a big man, but I wouldn't call him "SIGNIFICANTLY and obsenely obese" He was also 6'4'' and had some muscle. Eathquake was pretty heavy, but lost quite a bit over the years. Yoko was MASSIVE. But calling Crush and Gonzalez that is ridiculous.

Seconded. Both Bam Bam and Crush OD'ed, while Earthquake had a relapse of bladder cancer. Gonzales (aka, "El Gigante" in WCW) died of complications from diabetes and hadn't wrestled in almost 15 years.

Yokozuna, on the other hand, wasn't on drugs or steroids. He was just... FAT. :-(
