He's very serious, and don't call him Shirley.

ShawnDoc: Yes, let's give him bail.  He's totally not a flight risk.

Also this. How about a GPS tracking anklet that explodes if he approaches any airport?

I hope that Obama sees reason and chooses a solution like this to help achieve a stand-down of the needless confrontation with Russia, China and Ecuador.  Honestly, a deal like this would save years of needless delays.  Make a deal to bring him back.  Let him talk.  Within days, no one will care.

Have a speedy trial that starts within three months.  What is so impossible about getting together a case in that time?   We don't need a year long trial either. He will be almost certainly be convicted and get a 1,000 year sentence.  He will disappear.

And then we can get back to healing some of the damage to the US reputation that has been done by the release of the information that we were spying on absolutely everyone-- our friends as well as our enemies, our citizens as well as foreigners.

If I ran the CIA I'd be considering a Polonium 210 injection, partly as payback to the Russians.

But it would be best all around if he had a quiet life in exile with asylum.

Because before this, no foreign government ever considered the possibility they were being spied on.

You really aren't upset that the NSA under Bush and Obama has apparently totally obliterated Americans' rights against unreasonable searches under the 4th Amendment?

He totally should return to a country that locks people up without trial and has been known to torture people in the name of stopping terr, not doing so is dishonorable.

Yeah. What I love is how the media went from "ZOMG Gubmint spying!" to "Oooh, squirrel!" with regards to Snowden. It's like being in Los Angeles and all of a sudden a police chase comes on.

We trusted you.
You promised you wouldn't tell.
And we know that losing a friend's trust is the fastest way to lose a friend.
But we'd still like to be your friends.
So here's a special invitation for Edward Snowden, party of one.
Come home.
Stay a while.
Stay FOREVER.

Bail shouldn't be that big of a deal. He's already outside the country. He's going to come back, pay bail, then flee again?

2013-06-28 03:30:38 PM
It's a nice opening volley.

Just find a nice stable country that's not so third-world, camp out and be a consultant and enjoy the rest of your life.

It sucks but that's the price.

ShawnDoc: Yes, let's give him bail.  He's totally not a flight risk.

Uh... if he is returning to stand trial after having fled, why would he flee again unless he assumes he will not get a fair trial? He wants to assure he is tried in a civilian court in front of the media by an impartial jury and judge. Little tall order on some parts, I know, but really he is arguing after a fair trial.

When he realizes that he'll end up in prison for a long time even after a fair trial, he'll likely be tempted to run away again.

Snowden willing to return to the US if he's given bail, not subject to gag order, can choose the location of his trial, the jury members, the judge, and is given a pony

Amazing. He doesn't even seem to have a concept of the severity of his wrongdoing.

He really thinks he's Joe Whistleblower.

Nancy Pelosi was recently booed by her constituents for supporting the NSA spying, so liberal parts of the country work too.

Where? The other end of the block? Cause that's how far he'll get before one of the three hundred agents watching him tackles him.
