One step forward at a time.

From ignorance to knowledge.

I figure she'll be used more to show them how to get away with the spying on Americans without getting caught than any kind of prevention.

/but I'm skeptical like that
//live long enough, you'll be always skeptical too

"That means no more illegal wire-tapping of American citizens. No more national security letters to spy on citizens who are not suspected of a crime. No more tracking citizens who do nothing more than protest a misguided war. No more ignoring the law when it is inconvenient. That is not who we are. And it is not what is necessary to defeat the terrorists. The FISA court works. The separation of powers works. Our Constitution works. We will again set an example for the world that the law is not subject to the whims of stubborn rulers, and that justice is not arbitrary." - Senator Barack Obama, August, 2007, source

She could effing well start by making Prism anything close to illegal.  The real problem here is that what happened. . . .  is COMPLETELY LEGAL.

Governments require privacy to function and evaluate potential threats. The public has to be monitored for it's own protection.

I'm glad they cleared that up.

Personally, I just love the completely schizoid response from the powers that be.

"Hey, this program is no big deal -- it's just commonsense stuff that any reasonable person should expect to be going on.

But, also, Snowden is the greatest traitor America has ever known, for having told people about it.

But, also, we acknowledge that this probably kinda shouldn't have gone down the way it did, so here are some token gestures toward greater accountability."

It's as if whoever is writing the talking points on this mistook Orwell's stuff as an instruction manual.

I'm surprised Monica would return to the White House.  I figured after the Clinton thing she'd drop off the radar for good.

Isn't that an intern's job?

After all, didn't Monica Lewinski have a job working with the President's privates?
