imontheinternet: I would love to hear the phone conversation between an angry, unemployed NC "small gubmint" Republican and the government worker who has to explain to him why his unemployment check didn't come.

Me too.  It would go like this:

GOP Unemployed:  "WHAR Check?"
Government Worker:  "North Carolina residents can no longer receive federal unemployment funds."
GOP Unemployed: "Say what there, fella?  I worked a long time at the Cheetos factory and then they laid me off because of the socialist policies of Obummer. Where's me check?"
Government Worker: "Sir, I have been told that the State Legislature of North Carolina decided to forego federal funding for the unemployed."
GOP Unemployed: "SAY WHAT!?! Now hold on, dem dems did this, didn't they?  I knew those Raleigh commies would screw things up."
Government Worker: "Sir, I am no political science major, but I believe your governor is Republican and legilsature is controlled by Republicans."
GOP Unemployed:  "Yeah, so they're lookin' after our coffers, trying to make sure there aren't any cheaters getting freebies."
Government Worker:  "Sir, while you were carrying on like a buffoon, I checked and there aren't any Cheetos factories in North Carolina.  Care to revise your statement about freeloaders, sir?"

Tannhauser: FarkedOver: Tannhauser: So states competing for business is 'destroying capitalism'?

No, states racing to the bottom and catering to the every whim of business is why capitalism is destroying the country (not destroying capitalism as you stated, though i would love to see capitalism destroyed).

Going to use small sentences so folks won't read anything into my post that's not intended.

What form of government would you prefer to take over?

As for the the article, I'm against what NC did.

Funny that with all your snark that you don't realize that capitalism is not a form of government.

U.S. Congress: "Let's help states with unemployment benefits for the long-term unemployed. But to make sure they don't take advantage, we'll set some minimal requirements. No one would be so stupid as to throw away all this federal money that would help their constituents."

North Dakota Legislature: "Challenge accepted."

spcMike: WTF Indeed: In six months: Crime has reached an all time high in North Carolina as tens of thousands of out of work North Carolinians take to robbing those with jobs.

In eight months: Tax paying North Carolinians demand more police protection from the hordes of thieving criminals.

In ten months: Hundreds of local politicians are tossed after raising taxes to pay for increased police forces and crime prevention.

One year: Omni Consumer Products offers to buy Raleigh-Durham area and turn it into Delta City patrolled by ED-209s

Year Two: North Carolina has become a lawless hellscape, devoid of leadership and morals. Still nicer than Ohio.
