Invisible Oranges: Hello all. Just made my account last night after lurking on the Caturday threads for the past 6 months. We do not currently have furry friends living with us as we moved out of parental homes in Dallas into a no-pets-allowed apartment in Los Angeles.  We just moved into a place that does allow them, but we're of two minds about getting a cat. Very tempted to bring home a cat from a shelter, but I'd prefer us picking one together over coercion. We shall see.

Anywho, here are some photos of our beloved friends back in Texas.

From left to right: Callie, Henry, and Grace, my Rhodesian Ridgebacks on the back porch in April 2012

Simon, the indoor/outdoor cat that ended up preferring my dad over me. He tends to run away before I can take pictures. This one is from February 2010 when we got some decent snow.

My whole crew piled up on the couch in 2011 when Callie and Grace were puppies + Dad "reading" Harry Potter. They still like to sleep like this, albeit with bigger bodies on a smaller futon. :)

Riku, my boyfriend's cat whom he calls his "fuzzy buddy." His derp-y stare is somewhat like Juno's, but she reigns supreme.

LA was pretty lonely in the beginning and it still doesn't quite feel like home without pets. Caturday has helped me get through (or maybe just endure) my pet withdrawals. Thank you so much for the therapy!!

Hi!!  Welcome to your new "home".  Thanks for sharing the pics of your kids back home....I'm sure you miss them.  :D

Wow!! You guys were busy today...just got caught up!
Sherpa....thanks for the gifs! They turned out great! *right-clicky...steal* :D Invisible Oranges....by "home" I didn't just mean your new residence. I meant Caturday! I was a lurker for several years before I got the courage (and SHOVE from Sherpa) to join in, and I haven't regretted it! I mean it when I tell all of you guize that I feel "home" when I'm on here. I share your joys and sorrows and laugh my ass of with all of you!
Time to shut up and post some cats..... :D

Real Women Drink Akvavit: Good Meowning, everybuddy! Teh ebil grey kitteh that beat up Little Moo came back this morning and since I moved her food right on the other side of the glass from GoGo Beastie's food, I saw him right away. Nailed him with the super soaker. He ran to the side of the house, I ran through the house, through the garage, opened the side door and hopped out with my tiny Cali chick, descended from Viking type peoples battle cry! RAAIIIIII! Nailed him again right on his fluffy butt. I rambled up to the store after that, saw him cruising up the sidewalk and the minute he saw me, rather than just give me the stink eye as he usually does, he dove for cover in a hedge. I think he's got the message.

Mrs CDK: OK, so I don't think I will ever catch up. I'm only on page 10 and I had to scroll pretty fast ti even get here. Someone...I'm sorry, don't recall who...just found out that their cat has a tumor on their tongue. That's normally squamous cell carcinoma and is what Pugs had. If caught early enough, it is treatable. What was the prognosis from the vet? Sending good healing vibes for your kitty.

Here's a couple of picture of Pugs...

gremlin1: Invisible Oranges: gremlin1: Now that you have finally taken the plunge, don't forget to talk to us all now and then.
One of my neighbors raises Ridgebacks and keeps tempting me with puppies and I keep saying "NO,NO,NO" and won't even look at the litters. I keep telling myself "You have one cat and one dog and that's all you can afford right now". (I am such a sucker for the cute puppy face) If they were having a problem with finding a home for a puppy I would take one but they are a pretty rare breed in my town so...

But RR puppies so cute! (Bwahaha, you're in for it now!)

Shadow was 6 weeks old when she climbed over three puppies and over a chicken wire fence to run over and climb up my legs to sit in my lap, she was with me twelve years. I got Elsa on purpose from the Humane Society, she was with me 13 years.
[grmmmie.smugmug.com image 600x446]
Baby walked up my driveway starved and beaten she was between 2 and 3 when she moved in, she was with me 18 years.
[grmmmie.smugmug.com image 600x416]
Jack was a phone call from my Vet. He was 2 years old and had been abused and they were having trouble placing him. Jack and I clicked from day one and he got along with Baby, He has been with me for 10 years so far.
[grmmmie.smugmug.com image 600x338]
And finally Gremie the only cat anyone in my family has ever owned. He was one of the office cats where I worked.
he spent most of his day in my office and would tell me about his nights when I got to work in the morning. A new owner decided to get rid of the cats.So Gremie came home with me and things worked out. 6 years so far.
[grmmmie.smugmug.com image 253x450]

So there is a very good reason I don't even look at puppies and kittens. They keep following me home.

Was Shadow a Brittany?  I had a very special Brittany for 17(!) years.  They are great dogs!

I personally think that they do understand...they are just jealous that they don't have the type of community that we do, and just come in to try to piss us off for their own amusement. Very shallow and short minded persons. jmo.

Shadow was a Brittany from a long line of hunters. The man who let me take her made me promise 1 litter so she had had 5 puppies. I wasn't looking for a dog when I got her but the guy said she was my dog after that little show.
She was an excellent pointer and loved to walk in the woods even tho I didn't hunt anymore. When she was 12 she had a heart attack and that was it. No lead up to an illness, no problems, she just fell over one day. Elsa and Baby looked for her for weeks.

predle: Pardon me for interrupting caturday but I have a need to rant/scream.
This is for the idiot who decided that passing on a double yellow line on mountain roads while going at least twice the speed limit was a good idea. If you have a death wish fine, go ahead and take yourself out, do us all a favor by cleaning up the gene pool, but don't take the people you almost hit head on and the car behind them and me with you.

Glad you are safe. Seriously...

Thanks so much for the information! I knew someone on Caturday had mentioned that kind of tumor.   I will pass that on to my sister.  The tumor is between the size of a pea and a garbanzo bean, but my sister & her husband don't have the resources for a $1,000 to $2,000 surgery.  The vet wants to see the cat again in a couple of weeks.  I guess we will know more at that time.

12 is too young... I'm sorry.
I had a late adopt Jack (Ti) that was about 3 or 4 years younger that came to live here when Regi* was 11... she (and I) was/were a mess for weeks after we had to put Regi down.  (pics of both are not handy... I'll try and get them up for next week)  Was also a mess when it was Ti's turn 4 years later... that was 3 years ago, and we've said goodbye to two very cool cats MacDuff (whose fondness for me sealed the deal with the current Mrs. sno man!) as well as miss Garbo in the mean time.
