sno man:

That cat looks like he can take care of himself...
But he'll be back. He's just got some cool cat stuff to do.

He must be. But he is so cross-eyed, I make sure to call his name as I approach him. If I don't he runs away.

lilyspad: Um...okay. This is just me, but.....why are you going with gloss? And why oil-based? Just curious as to why you would choose that. Gloss is so...shiny! And oil based maybe lasts longer, but takes longer to dry...stinks...and is hard to clean up. As opposed to latex, anyway. Not getting on you at all!! Don't get me wrong! Just curious....

Exterior.. semi gloss is easier to clean and doesn't have that dull look.. don't like latex outside.... inside, definitely latex, for the reasons you gave... Also, I have asbestos shingles outside, in good condition.. kinda like the look.. thought about going with vinyl siding.. would break up the shingles, might get the EPA involved, and I have seen houses with vinyl after a bad storm... ugly !....

A cooling headband and bandana they even match, not generally a big priority to me but I figured WTF, I can at least be as fashion conscious as my cats

If he will let you (or even if he won't, get hubby and son to hold him) flush his eye out with sterile saline

sharbear: OlderGuyWhat happened to having a "hermit" weekend?  lol !  Thanks to you I am here enjoying all the fun, and I really appreciate your gift, thank you again.

Some things are not meant to be..... friends in need.. I can put off the trivial stuff, other things have to get done..  the only way I will get the 'hermit' weekend would be to disappear, sans phone.... can't abandon Fred and the Crew...  thought about putting a 'DANGER - CONTAGIOUS  !' sign on the door..  both phones would be ringing off the hook and neighbors would be knocking on windows wanting answers.... but I'm not complaining... I do have a way of getting out of some things..  I just mention that I had some spicy pizza, and have to be outside for a while.. seems to work well...

I submitted this as a Caturday thread last night, assuming that any Caturday submissions after thread-close Tuesday morning would be looked at for Thursday night greenlighting, but apparently not. Only links submitted Thursday afternoon/early evening are eligible :( I am unable to get back online til 8pm Mon thru Fri (my work sked is 11a to 7p). I guess I will never get a Caturday greenlight. Anyway, enough of my (self)pity party. This is about a local kitten Freida who has a rags to riches story. Hope you all like it. It's just a couple minutes long and from the local CBS affiliate.

Sickapie: Well, I got the phone call that I've been waiting for today.  The hospital that Little Pie needs to go to for her eating/swallowing problem called and set up an initial visit with the 3 of us.  It's in Evansville, IN (abt. 4.5 hrs. away).  Once that visit happens, they can determine how long she has to stay there.  Thankfully, she'll be outpatient, which means I get to stay with her (at the Ronald McDonald House across the street from the hospital), so it won't be too traumatic for her.

She starts her anti-anxiety meds tomorrow, so pray to Ceiling Cat for me that that goes well!

This an ad for Musicians Repair Service in Akron OH in Triad, the mag of OH Music Educators Assn. We first got a copy last yr at Harmony Fest when it moved to Miami Univ. It seems to be Apr-May issue that we may snatch; interesting articles as well as this ad.  Begins, "Did your instrument get: * dropped from the bleachers * hit by a flying baton, flag or football *damaged but you don't know how *stepped on *or did it get eaten by your dog?  We specialize in projects that many repair shops turn down"
Progress likely more than halfway to pg 4 by now.
But please consider this  my Hasta Lasagna for the eve.

Salem Witch:  But to be serious for just one post, one of the most important things we can learn from our critters is acceptance.
Suzy will walk up to homeless people, hookers, gang members, she doesn't care. If they pet her, she wags her tail. It takes no effort on my part to treat them with respect and kindness. And they get a little bright spot in their day.

It's not so much that threads submitted before then aren't eligible, but that we get so many overall submissions on a daily basis (an average of 2,000, but frequently more than that) that the ones submitted early like yours end up getting redlit since there's no mechanism in place to set them aside until Thursday afternoon/evening.

On of our cats is named Bob.  She's very old and she came with the house, but for the first few years we couldn't get close enough to find out her sex, so she was "Bob."  It took four years to get her to come inside, but she's adjusted admirably.  She's between 12-15 according to the vet:

img24.imageshack.us

img844.imageshack.us

However old she is, she doesn't seem to miss being outside.  She likes being in bed:

img208.imageshack.us

She'll wake up, eat, and then go back to bed.  If I'm working on the computer, she'll come see me, but then it's back to bed.  Bob's natural state these days (and has been for the past two years):

lilyspad: We have a hot front coming in....I can't even imagine this, but it's supposed to be 112 on Tuesday. Yes, that's what I said! 112!!!! GOODGAWD!!!! I'm a delicate flower...I think that I will melt! :D

Bloody hell!  112 in WA??
[checks local forecast]
Yeesh, supposed to get into the 80s (high 20s in C) in Vancouver.  That's more than enough to melt most people around here!!

I can't even imagine 112... Hottest I ever experienced was about 105 driving through B.F. Nowhere between Merritt and Lytton, BC, several years ago.  Semi-desert climate, long dusty back roads, I think there was an accident closing the main highway.  All windows open (beater car with no a/c), driving fast as possible for the strongest wind, outside arm hanging on to the roof for proper pit ventilation.  It was so bad we even stopped and took most of our clothes off, soaked our shirts with water from the cooler and wrapped them around our heads, and I still nearly passed out from the heat!  It sucked when we neared civilization again and had to put our shirts back on.  Ditched the bra though.  God I never want to experience heat like that again.  I am such a temperate-rainsoaked-Vancouver-pampered wuss!

May the a/c be with you, Lilyspad!   :)

What shirtless road tripping might look like.

Sugarbear Update:
We're doing fine in this heatwave despite the fact that the AC died on us this afternoon (Just bought a new compressor for it a couple of years ago too). A few years ago I got my hands on a portable swamp cooler and souped it up with a better water pump. It keeps the bedroom I share with Sugarbear and Zooty (other cat) comfortably cool.
Sugarbear will have his sutures removed this week and I will be grateful when his fur grows back in (he's probably wondering why I apologize so much for doing that to him). Here's some new pictures of him that are NSFW for some:

Mountain Vista Animal Hospital is set up to take donations over the phone for Sugarbear. The account number is #17261. All donations will go directly to Mountain Vista and none to me.
Mountain Vista Animal Hospital is located at 4675 East Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89121. The telephone number is 702-458-8808 and the Fax is 702-458-8796. Mountain Vista Animal Hospital's website is www.mvahvetlv.com .
If there are any Farkers in the Las Vegas area looking for an entry level employee, please drop me a line at cryptolero[nospam-﹫-backwards]liamg*com
Once again, thank you all for your help and your love for Sugarbear.
