Maybe it's not a wang.

Maybe America needs a sports bra.

From now on, let's call Florida "America's Moob".

Florida, she sags down to Cuba like Grandma's tits. There are French Canadian winter people crawling all over her and reading about the latest heinous crimes in the lurid Montréal tabloids.

Evocative isn't it. Oh, America, you used to be so beautiful, but now you're full of tourists, and worse yet, natives. Just like Paris, it would be wonderful if it weren't full of Parisians*.

*Except in August, there are hardly any Parisians there in August.

Alabama is famous for Saks?  Really?!?  Is the "Fifth Avenue" they refer to in the name of their stores in downtown Birmingham, or something?  Because coincidentally enough, there's one on Fifth Avenue in midtown Manhattan, too!

Maybe Saks has corporate offices in Alabama, I dunno, but I think it's a stretch to say Alabama is "famous" because of Saks.

It's more like the most famous brand from that state, then the brand the state is most known for. For example, I'm from Maryland. I was born here. I've lived here (save for a 9 month stint in the ATL) for my entire 40 years. I never knew GEICO was headquartered here. Either Phillips Seafood or McCormick Spices would have been a better choice for Maryland.

Poor New Mexico.  Their claim to "fame" is a chain of minimart/gas stations that, as far as I know, aren't even found outside that state.

Lexmark for Kentucky??? Really? How about KFC? I mean, it's not something I'm especially proud of, but I'm inclined to think it's much better known.

Illinois should have McDonald's. Its headquarters are in Oak Brook.

I'm not sure what standards they're using, but they don't make much sense whatever they are.  Even in the case of large, famous corporations that are shown on that map, there are often larger, perhaps more famous corporations they could've chosen.  I mean, at first blush, Apple (#5 on the latest Fortune 500 list) doesn't seem like an odd choice for California, but California is also home to the #3 company (Chevron).  Starbucks seems like it might be a reasonable choice for Washington, but it's not even in the top 200 on the Fortune 500 list, while Washington has three in the top 50: Costco, Amazon, and a little start-up some of you might have heard of called Microsoft.  They list Zappos for Nevada (which I believe is home only to their distribution facility, not their home office), and I don't think that company is even in the Fortune 500, but Nevada is home to four casino companies (including Ceasar's and Wynn) that are, and the state is obviously more famous for that aspect of its economy anyway.

Who knows what they're thinking.

F*ck Starbucks.

Should have gone with Microsoft or Boeing.

Here's a link to a bigger version so you can see the little states easier.

I can't tell what Rhode Island is supposed to be still.

I'm cool with DuPont for Delaware.

I don't know what the logo on Hawaii represents.

I wasn't aware Sinclair stations still existed, must be all out west?

Not a Florida company.  It's based in California.

While Disney World is more popular than Disney Land, Disney is headquartered in California.

Hawaiian Air Lines.

The Rocky Mountain states and thereabouts, mostly. And pretty much nowhere else, as far as I've seen.

saks inc., the parent company of saks fifth avenue, is headquartered in birmingham. but, yeah, i agree that it's a stretch.

I'd go with the SEC (though not really a company) or if it has to be a corporation, Vulcan

Well, wouldn't actually put any of them forward as "Kentucky brands" in any context that the public would actually care about. I was just noting the business connection with the state, so the mention of Jack Daniel's wasn't completely out of left field.

Remember when Baltimore used to smell like the McCormick plant...delicious!

LL Bean is homophobic? I always thought of them as like Ralph Lauren, but for bull dykes instead of gay men. I guess you learn something new every day.

I'm from the Bay Area so I understand Apple for California, but my first thoughts were Disney or Google.

actually I just re-read the article and see that it was cleared up there. Either way I still think of FL instead of CA when it comes to the mouse :)

GEICO!!! That's what it is! THANK YOU!! It was so small I couldn't read it and there was no way to expand it.

And many of them are closing, at least in ABQ. Dions would be a much better representative for us now, I think.
