Meh, that's a stretch... but I wouldn't be surprised if they won at least one pretty soon.

I'm glad that somebody is stepping up now that the Jets aren't claiming the "We're The Best Team Ever Until The Season Starts" crown every year.

I will say, if they get home field throughout the playoffs they will be hard to beat.  That stadium is rough.

The problem is we got one player out of 53 that thinks it is all about him.  Don't wanna be coached.  You know what?  I would rather go out there and line up with 10 men on the field, and -- and -- get, uhhh, penalized, every play, all day, until.....until....We can't win that way.  Can't win with him!  Can't lose with him!  Can't do it!

i thought of those, and also Bobby Bonilla's "I'll show you the Bronx".....and also Pedro tackling Lasorda but that wasn't a meltdown per se.

Tommy Lasorda's is just insane at how quickly it elevates.  Elia's is notable for how long it is, how badly he goes nuts, but most of all - i was just saying this days ago - for when it happened.  April.  April!  You'd expect that kind of meltdown after 150+ games of inepttude or perhaps a crushing loss in a one-game playoff on 163rd game fo the season.  That was in freaking April!  that is what makes that meltdown increidble. the Cubs had probably played 15-20 games at most.

APRIL.

As a lifelong Seahawks fan and 12 year season ticket holder, I really do not like this early hype and attention. SF is still the team to beat in the NFC West, St. Louis is getting better, Arizona has a veteran QB and a good D, we have a tough road schedule with a lot of 10am PST games. Why isn't Atlanta getting more attention? They were in the NFC championship, Tony came back, they added Steven Jackson. Please turn your attention that way, let us go back to being South Alaska!

Ditka had some underrated gems while with the Saints.  Answering angrily to a couple questions, both times ending with "NEXT," a reporter asks why he's in a bad mood, retorting with "What do you care?  If you were 2-7, you'd be in a bad mood too! NEXT."

Yup, thought of that one too.  i don't know if it was the same presser but there's one of ditka being asked if he needed a QB or told, but he barks back something like, 'yeah, no shiat! next question!"

the local radio STR show has a drop of him with the "what do you care?".  i hear it from time to time.

forgot....a couple of years ago after he'd published his biography, Leaf said he and that sportswriter made up.  Leaf admitted -- this is circa 2010, 2011 -- that he was immature (news flash) and he handled not just his career but that specific incident very badly, saying he had apologized to the guy and they were cool.  And then maybe 6 months later Leaf had that huge relapse and ended up in jail i think.

It does start off with him pissed off about being asked who the starter next week would be, "there's three quarterbacks on this team, whoever starts starts and whoever doesn't will back him up.  NEXT."

Cowboys, Patriots are the only two to win 3 out 4.  Steelers won 4 out of 6.  I'd take that

Seahawks.  I doubt it.

Winning even one is hard in the NFL. Maybe they do have the best roster in the league but ask yourself how many times the best roster on paper won the Super Bowl in the last decade or so.

Seabirds are salty.  They aren't back to back Cowboys salty. Not yet.

Wilson is only getting better. They're doing it the right way. As long as they f*ck over SF, I'm okwiththis.jpg

Well, in all seriousness, here's the reality.  The Seahawks have a team that's very young and very good, but that's not always a recipe for a dynasty.  Before long, players on their rookie contracts -- Earl Thomas, Russell Okung, Richard Sherman, Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright, James Carpenter, Bruce Irvin -- will all have to be extended for big bucks.  (Kam Chancellor and Max Unger have already re-upped.)  But of course there's a salary cap, and the team is going to have to make some difficult roster decisions.

This makes the 2013 draft absolutely pivotal to the team's future.  In the 2013 draft, their top picks were RB Christine Michael, a one-tech DT Jordan Hill, WR Chris Harper, five-tech DE Jesse Williams, CB Tharald Simon, a TE Luke Willson and RB/FB Spencer Ware.  Not coincidentally, some of the older players on the team currently making good money are RB Marshawn Lynch, one-tech DT Brandon Mebane, WR Sidney Rice, five-tech DE Red Bryant, CB Brandon Browner, TE Zach Miller and FB Michael Robinson.

So if most of the picks from this draft pan out, those roster decisions get a lot easier and they have a real shot at building a great team for a long time.  If not, there could be some pain.

Thomas and Okung are already making huge $$$. They were drafted the year before the new rookie rules. Sherman and wilson are up in the next couple years. Carpenter will not cost a lot. Irivin will have to prove that he can play to make money, but that's certainly not out of the question. The Seahawks will say goodbye to Browner, Miller, Lynch, Rice, Robinson without thinking twice about it if they want more $$$ than they already get. I'd say probably the same with Bryant and Mebane. They almost let both go in the last couple off seasons.

I see them making moves to keep Wagner, Wright, Sherman and Wilson.

The Seadderrall Seahawks are very young and very, very talented. With a decent coach (he may be a dick, but he's a decent to good coach) and a really, really good front office (Schneider learned from the best).

If injuries don't throw them completely to hell and back, they've got a VERY bright short to medium term future.

The whole 'NFC worst' is mostly badass. Even the Rams. Look at how well they played last year against....the niners and seahawks. If they can get something working on offense, watch out.

2013-06-27 08:19:40 PM
As a (still) heartbroken Niner fan, I think VD is being genuine but maybe a little too generous with his wording. The Seahawks do have the talent and drive to go deep in the playoffs for years to come, possibly even win it all. They just have to get their shiat together on a consistent basis -- every quarter feels like a different game with the Seahawks, it's hard to predict what you're going to get. When their team gets in a rhythm though, there's not a single team in the NFL that can stop them.
