I'm pretty sure if the army wants you gone changing the law isn't likely to stop them.

The Turkish army has been one of the most important factors in keeping them a nice secular nation.  That tradition needs to continue.

This.

I'm curious to see what would happen if the police are unable to sufficiently "pacify" the demonstrations.  Standard playbook for the region would suggest that the next step would be to call in the army.  Somehow I don't think that the Turkish military would act the way he thinks they would.

The problem is that the top generals and judges were replaces with the PM's people.

The history of modern Turkey is based around which son of a biatch garners the most support from the army. Fortunately the army has preferred secularism. Thus, Erdogan has been firing generals.

Gonna get worse before it gets better.

I'm torn between the desire for the military to not make political decisions and my loathing of Erdogan.
I'm really torn.

Gah, religion is so easy to evil.

As God is my witness, I thought Turkey's PM could fly.

That sounds like a really good way to provoke the military into doing exactly what he's trying to stop them from doing.

That's 1.

Thank You Black Jesus!:

That's 2.

Just need one more good reason to get rid of him. Maybe a nice riot or some stupid attempt to change the laws in such a way that he could set him self up as a dictator. Hmmm
