1. The trade agreement was about to expire
2. Not likely the Senate would renew it now
3. Take their $23 million

FTFA: According to Reuters, Ecuador said Thursday it was waiving favorable trade rights under a trade agreement with the U.S. In a dig at Washington, officials there also offered the U.S. $23 million in aid for "education about human rights."

Because of all the fat in pasta?

Or is it because it contains gluten -- which is suddenly evil and toxic, for some reason?

Balance mostly. Too much gluten can be bad and I already have breads and pizza dough that I make with organic non-bleached flower. The two combined offer a level of balance that includes certain days where gluten might be in my diet and other days it's not. It's packed with iron and since I don't eat much red meat (sometimes grass fed beef or bison) that's a nice addition. Its also packed with protein and the low glycemic index means your body will have more time to turn that protein into energy. The best part about it? Tastes exactly like egg/wheat pasta.

It's also a fruit btw ;) and of course non-GMO. I first started eating it about 5 years ago in Peru and now I can't get enough of the stuff.

Don't read too much into this.

International "aid" from the US to Central American countries isn't as selfless as it sounds, it comes with a lot of strings that benefit US interests that go far beyond some skinny spy.  Ecuador is thumbing its nose at the giant at a time when many South and Central American countries are trying to form some form of political and economic alternative to US hegemony.

Snowden might give the rather socialist government in Ecuador the political cover they need to accomplish the goal of withdrawing from what they see as unfavorable trade arrangements with the US.

The area is becoming more independent and and is starting to rely on it's own fellow countries for trade partnerships. I've had the LatAm territory for my company for the past 5 or 6 years and have seen a big swing to intra-dependence. This is becoming especially acute in the Caribe and Central American areas. There is a very large data pipe being built by Carlos Slim that covers Argentina, to Brasil, to Venezuela, over to Trinidad then into Puerto Rico. It then branches back out to cover Costa Rica, Dominican, and then finally into Mex City. The next stage of the loop will go from Mex City into Panama then south into Peru, Chile, back into Argentina thus closing the loop. All IT roads will no longer lead into the Miami NAP but will be owned by LatAm companies to trade with other LatAm companies.

It's a very exciting time to be involved with technology down there. The emerging markets offer huge upside for organizations that are willing to do business down there. I still won't go to Venezuela though..

Don't forget about the ancient fields in the south eastern corner of Spaghetti Trees. There are still some left after the gluten free and low carb rush of the last decade as discussed by xynix's post of Quinua....their market share has dwindled consideratibly but there still is a market. it's *MUCH* cheaper than importaing it all the way from Southern Europe.

And, thanks to people like yourself, the locals (who have been eating the stuff for centuries) can no longer afford to purchase their own supply locally. Foreign markets have caused the price to skyrocket. But I bet you kinda feel like a pioneer, doncha?

Obama, speaking in Senegal on Thursday, said he has no intention of "wheeling and dealing" with other nations over Snowden. He said he was not getting personally involved because he "shouldn't have to."

Not only that, but due to the whole hippy vibe, Peru refuses to incorporate any modern breeding practices with Quinoa, even in limited doses, because 'Organic'. I went to a year of meetings with my advisor on Quinoa. By the end of it I wanted to strangle his contact.

Full disclaimer: my grasp on foreign languages could best be described as "embarrassingly poor" but I believe when you put grande in front, you're talking about quality, and placed after indicates size.  so Huevos Grande would be large eggs, applying the appropriate slang means what you think it means, I think subby just complemented the superior quality of their "eggs".

/that said, I'm probably wrong.
