I knew it was coming and it still got a scream out of me. That spider really wasn't that big though.

Shower spider is watching you rejuvenate?

Thanks for the laugh you idiot. :-D

Maybe you shouldn't have poked it repeatedly.

What was he expecting by poking the spider repeatedly?

That being said, if I were dumb enough to to what he did, I'd probably react exactly the same way, only with a less manly shriek.

This is why I always take a camera with me in the tub.

I started to see if I could find the source of this vid, but then found that there is a whole genre of this sort of thing and thousands of people have made videos documenting spiders in the bathtub.

(in doing a reverse GIS on a screen cap, Google thinks the image is "pui de pisica" which is Romanian for "kittens")

Ok, the source is YouTube: "Huntsman Spider Jumps" from Australia

2:30am. Bad back & can't sleep so I ran a hot bath to relax & watch the news on my smartphone. A Huntsman got too close & I tried to shoo it away. DON'T! Here's why.

Aren't they known to be aggressive and if not deadly venomous, at least painfully venomous?

Anyway, to get the image of tub-spiders out of my head, here's a pic of a couple Huntsmans I wouldn't mind having jump into the bath with me.

AbiNormal:

I wonder...if you shot that thing, would the police charge you with reckless endangerment? Because I'm shooting the shiat out of any spider THAT big.

And completely unsurprised to see this come from Australia. That entire continent was some twisted creator's testing lab when he or she decided, "You know what this planet needs? More heartless killing machines?"

The goliath bird eater laughs derisively at your shenanigans.

Then again, small spiders can be scary too. Especially if they get in your ear.

Is that a tarantula? Don't can't they shoot that fuzz on the back of their abdomen as an irritant and deterrent?

ALSO IT'S A SPIDER THREAD I HAVE A STORY TO TELL! One of these days I'll put it in my profile.

I was smoking and reading a book on the back porch late one night when I lived with my mom and it was well after midnight. I felt something brush my cheek and just wiped it away and didn't think anything of it. A few moments later it was back and I brushed again. After the third time I was getting suspicious, so I looked up to my left there, slowly falling towards me like like they're Easy Company and the rest of the 101st airborne parachuting into France, is a large cloud of black widow babies falling at me. I was pretty freaked out for the rest of the night and would randomly start brushing myself furiously when I felt anything.

/other than that I love spiders, they kill real bugs so I don't have to

Yeah, tarantulas have urticating hairs on their abdomen that some species will flick off as a defense mechanism. It works like itching powder. Not all species will do it readily, though.

It actually takes quite a long time to drown a spider or other bug like thing.

They will come back to life if you fish them out and let them dry. Just a warning to you pants pissers who though you were now safe.

It's the only type of insect I don't kill in my home.  They're looking to eat any other interlopers.

Unless it's a big one, then I call over my dog and he "plays" with it.

We allow "house spiders", daddy-longlegs looking things, to live up on our clerestory windows.

Any bug that gets indoors and flies up to the windows is toast.

We will occasionally clean out the webs while carefully leaving the spiders alone.  Works great, you can't really see them unless you look, and we don't have a mosquito or fly problem at all.
