I wonder if Federer's wife spared some time from texting to show her husband any support.  That would be a shocker.

The grass is aggravating a lot of injuries, and Federer is just getting old, sadly.

We need more fresh faces in short tight skirts to make it onto TV this weekend.  None of that fat lesbian crap.

Is there something different with the grass?  I heard someone else say that.

rcf1105: and Federer is just getting old, sadly.

Yeah but no real excuses for that loss. He hasn't gone out that early in a Grand Slam for 10 years (prior to his first Grand Slam win, actually). Sergiy played an excellent game for him, but Federer just played horribly. He never found any rhythm at all. Even an average Federer versus Sergiy at his best should be 3 sets to 0.

browneye: Actually Federer won Wimbledon last year and Djokovic the year before.  But Djokovic has only won Wimbledon once so he's no where near as dominant at Wimbledon has Federer or Nadal.

So browneye, if Djokovic wins this one and matches Nadal's two Wimbledon victories, will you agree that Djokovic is better than Nadal on grass or will he merely pull even?

FYI in their last five meetings on surfaces other than clay, Djokovic was the winner.

Until Wednesday, he was best known, if at all, for grabbing his cellphone to take a photo of a disputed ball mark in the clay during a first-round loss at the French Open last month.

I knew I had heard his name before.

/very casual tennis fan; I might watch one or two finals a year.

maybe they are desirous of Serena to win?

She only needs two to catch up with Navratilova and Evert, but I don't think it's possible for her to catch up to Graf.  So if any conspiracy was in play it would only be to get her to second place all time.

Too many matches so too little time to recover/heal (players have become increasingly vocal about this).  And adding last year's summer Olympics to the mix hasn't helped.

judging by how much people slipped i guess somebody farked with the groundskeeping and they'd rather not admit there were problems

GavinTheAlmighty: Andy Murray is quietly praying that Djokovic is next.

Quietly, loudly, everything in between, etc.  And this Reynolds fellow gave him an early run, but I think that'll be about it.  Currently 7-6, 3-2 Djoker leading and up a break.

Zeb Hesselgresser: Is there something different with the grass? I heard someone else say that.

The Olympics, and apparently England had a cold and rainy spring even for them.  They don't close the roof when there's no tennis, and they don't cover the grass at all.  Which is generally good, but several players/commentators have mentioned that it seems a bit more slick.  MaSha spent her last match biatching.  Fed was like WTF do you want, it's grass.

The Olympics was a valid complaint last year.  Not so much this.

Milos Raonic makes me sad.  Fortunately, we still have Bouchard in the women's draw.

Except they happened between last year's Wimbledon and this year's, and that lawn was shredded after both back-to-back.  Although I'd think it would've had time to recover.  It's probably the weather more than anything.

(No yanks left on the men's side, if it makes you feel any better.  Serena's feet out of her mouth and on the court for now, anyway.  Weird Wimby.)

At this point, he seems like a perfect gatekeeper.  He's struggling to reach that next level.
