I wish I had some funny quip in reaction to this...but I don't.  I can't stand people who're afraid of spiders. (Same with people afraid of bees. [Except those allergic to bees. Then they've got a valid reason]).

If people lent as much time learning about spiders as they have learning the re-percussive behavior on how to act like an idiot simply because the reaction they get from other people, they'd realize there's nothing about them to be afraid of.  Now, the Brown Recluse? Yeah, that's a spidey to be feared. And a few others in remote regions of the jungles. But most of these numbnutz biatch about them to the point where I actually wonder if they're really afraid or just wanting attention for the reaction they have.

Spiders are so cool. They're our little eight-legged bits o'ammunition against all the bad buggies out there. Anyone with a flower or vegetable garden knows this.  And if they don't? They should.

I'd love to see what the eejits who're afraid of them would do if these lovely little critters weren't around to do what they're around to do as nature intended.  On an ironic note, I'd probably get sick of their biatching going into hyper-drive after having learned how good they really had it with the little guys around, but it'd still hold a sweet "I told you so" moment for me to watch them be really freaked out by the alternative.

/happy to be a girl who loves critters

Believable, had plenty of spiders in my car that made me freak out and concentrate on killing it or getting it off me.
It's the suddenness of it, a visceral reaction(thanks evolution)  I don't exactly piss my pants just seeing one, love looking at/watching them.I will kill the shiat out of them though if they get in my space.

We have ones with big goals here.  Even with the inner door and screen door shut, they'll set up for the doorway and try to catch people.  Annoying as shiat when you leave in the morning.

Still sounds like an excuse and not a reason. Always have your foot on the brake in the parking lot, anything happens, jam it down like there's a spider on it.
/people are stupid though

Wee Ms. Rivera
Sat in her Previa
Driving along one day
Along came a spider
Who sat down beside her
So she rammed everything in her way
