Was that a surprise?

I wonder if they allow anyone into the gallery this time.

2013-06-26 05:44:10 PM
Yeah, I think we all knew it would happen just like this.

2013-06-26 05:49:13 PM
Not wanted, but definitely expected.  Bullies have a hard time learning....

2013-06-26 05:50:02 PM
how's that outreach coming, republicans?

In TX, and any state with outlawed or restrictive abortion options: I'd applaud seeing women who have been denied an abortion to show up on the capitol steps, give birth there, and say "All yours, boys! Here's your gift from Jeebus!".

After all, we all know it's not about "sanctity of life".

2013-06-26 05:57:28 PM
"Texans value life and want to protect women and the unborn", proclaimed Gov. Twatwaffle, on the eve of his states 500th execution, ironically of a woman.

Jesus wept.

2013-06-26 06:00:20 PM
Jesus farking god. Let is farking go Rick.

2013-06-26 06:05:05 PM
I think I saw this mentioned as a possibility last night.  Since it's a new session, do the Dem's have the numbers to prevent a quorum if they all leave town?

Wow.

What?

You... You... Actually said something against the GOP. I rarely agree with what you say, but I've never considered you a troll.

She'll filibuster it correctly this time. You just gave her a second chance.

Mike Chewbacca: You... You... Actually said something against the GOP

I haven't voted for a GOP candidate above county judge since 2006 and that was when I quit voting for my Congressman. Rick Perry is everything that's wrong with the social side of the GOP. It's people like him who have run me off.  I have NEVER hidden my contempt for him or the rest of the social conservatives who biatch to high heaven about government control over some aspects of the lives of the citizenry in the name of 'society' when exerting (or attempting to do so) control over some other aspect of our lives in the name of 'god'.

2013-06-26 07:36:16 PM
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love that the GOP's winning strategy for 2016 is apparently to count on women not holding a grudge.

All these years, I never had any idea you felt that way about Goodhair.  Cheers.

Dear Republicans,

You're not helping your cause by beating the dead horse.  The more you beat, the more centrists come to the conclusion that you're complete asshats and move to another party.

Unfortunately there are a lot of vehemently pro-life women, especially in the south.

Plus, now that the Supreme Court has lifted the restrictions on TX that were designed to keep them from disenfranchising voters, they've already announced the strictest Voter ID laws in the nation as well as said that they're going to go ahead and redraw district lines based on 2011 maps that the courts blocked due to the maps being clearly designed to make Democratic party and Hispanic voters less effective.

These can still be challenged in the courts, unfortunately it just means they can't be challenged by the Fed before implementation, they have ot be challenged after implementation.  So they will still have an impact, but in all likelihood will still be struck down, and what's more the strike will be more permanent coming from a court of law than it would from a summary Federal decision.

Lawsuit has already been filed.

For supposedly wanting limited government and less government spending, Republicans sure like to make the government jump through a lot of hoops to tell them 'no' for things they know they aren't going to get away with in the first place.

A number of months back, I remarked you can sometimes say some bone-headed shiat.

This is not one of those times.

Yeah, I'll vouch for that, if anyone doubts it.  I've never seen you say anything remotely positive about the asshole, and on the contrary, have generally seen you refer to him as "Rick the Prick" as often as not.

DiA just went Texas-style Weaver95 on us.  Holy farking shiat.

I'm kidding; but this really goes to just how blindingly farkheaded the GOP policy in Texas has been.  So I don't know about anyone else, but I'm ready for one hell of a drinking game that night.

I thought this was Rick the Prick:

However, a GIS does seem to indicate that 'Rick the Prick' is more associated with Rick Perry.  For Rick Scott, you have to input 'Rick the Dick'.

If the abortion blocking bill passes, drinks are on Rick up at Nubianhead!

"We will not allow the breakdown of decorum and decency to prevent us from doing what the people of this state hired us to do," Perry said.

a) The breakdown of decorum and decency was started when the Texas GOP refused to abide by the operating procedures they are supposed to.
b) The breakdown of decorum and decency was by THE PEOPLE OF YOUR STATE you chuckle-f*ck.

I was curious today about the no bathroom breaks rule. Does that preclude just pissing all over the podium as you continue speaking? I think it would be protected speech given the context.

Too bad.  I know nothing about you, but I'm still 100% you would be an improvement, because it would be impossible not to be.

I'm honestly surprised he just didn't sign the bill at midnight last night, filibuster and rules of order be damned.

Maybe Davis and Watson and the other liberal senators can do a tag-team filibuster this time around.

This statement makes perfect sense and I'm glad that Perry is being honest.

For too long there have been two things holding the Republicans back:
The breakdown of decorum

and

Decency.

By getting rid of the dreaded rise of decency we can once against save our great nation.

Also, I wish the Democrats would just call the GOP out on their bullshiat.  On the record, on the floor.  Point out how the GOP is lying by claiming this is about protecting the health of anyone.  Point out how the GOP lies and brags on talk radio what these bills are really about.  Directly point out what a waste of cash these are, as they'll be challenged in court on their bullshiat.

It's my understanding that it was signed at 12:01 and then they attempted to forge it to say 11:59, but that's just what I heard today. I haven't bothered to look it up.

2013-06-26 08:33:31 PM
Can the Dems do another filibuster this time around?

I was hoping the crowd would calm down and allow the questions to keep flowing back and forth until the time ran out.  It was unfair that the gallery was given that much power, even though I understand why they were yelling and screaming.  It didn't help the whole session end with the Dems in control of the floor and the Reps trying desperately to get in their vote while the Dems kept pointing out they had the floor or should have the floor.
