I believe one of the first exercises after Hurricane Sandy at Sandy Hook was to sweep for unexploded ordinance. I think they found 2 or 3 WWI shells and disposed of them in the same way...probably the same Team. Weapons Station Earle is right next to Sandy Hook.

I really don't mind mimes that much. It's mines that blow my mind. A minor thought from a son of a miner.

I can only imagine the horror of strolling down the beach when suddenly a mime goes and pretends to blow your legs off.

Let me just take this opportunity to say that number of rules at Jersey beaches combined with the beach badges is ridiculous.

/Grew up in Philly and always went to the Delaware beaches.

Heh. My niece married a nice guy from Red Bank - when I went up to her marriage a couple years ago, I had to ask him what the hell "Go Home Bennies" meant, I had seen it spray-painted in a dozen places.

I saw a mime drowning one time.  So I threw him an invisible rope.  And it saved him!  For a little while...

And the shoresters like all of the rules, such as the bans on throwing a frisbee or football?

I've been to the beaches in Alabama where you can pretty much do anything, including drink alcohol and it's all pretty tame. I'm not sure what the people who make the rules in NJ think they're protecting everyone from.

Don't you get it?  They don't want ANYONE who doesn't own beach front property using the beaches.  As far as they  are concerned, day-trippers are all scum.

I used to own a stepside van, just like this one that was a former mines rescue unit, i found the paperwork in the overhead chubby one day while bord. It was a great vehicle that drove wonderful and its 327 was a real strong engine for a small block set up in such a beast.
I loved that truck/van, and drove it everywhere.

As for the contact mine, there must be thousands in the world's oceans by now..
The more recent ones are supposed to deactivate after a set time, older ones,...not so much..
