It's time to sell your good stocks
It's time to ignore the facts
It's time to hate on Apple on the Stock Exchange tonight.

This is important somehow. I'm sure of it. And since the market is static, any examination today versus... say, a week from now, is especially momentous.

I hate Apple because I hate their products.

That being said, market capitalization is not the single unit of measure that determines a companies wealth. Dr Bunsen Honeydew taught me that.

Wait, so if I buy Apple stock, I get a cash back rebate? That seems to be his argument here.

The argument is meaningless. Is the suggestion that if Apple spent this money it'd be worth more? If you buy Apple stock, you're buying shares in that cash as well.

If we're talking market cap on a company in business for more than 30 years, we can take a pretty good guess.

It actually makes sense if you read the article - which subby apparently had trouble with.

Basically, cash is worth cash.  So, take market cap minus cash to get true value.  Apple has more cash, so the actual business cannot be valued based on the amount of cash it has on hand.

Each Apple share has an actual equity of $119; Google an equity of $195. However, Apple has 2.8x the number of outstanding shares.

The difference between equity and market cap is potential. The first $195 of Google's $874 stock price is backed by equity. The remaining $679 is backed by nothing but the expectation of making more money in the future. Apple's "potential" is $279.

This author values speculated potential at higher value than actual assets in an industry that is always rapidly changing.

Apple doesn't innovate, and their marketing genius is dead. Google innovates. Apple is an ok stock but Google will absolutely dwarf them within a few years.

Dunno about him, but I don't buy apple because I hold a grudge for a very, very long time.   I was an Apple IIGS user.
