Nana's Vibrator: Aaron stupid Hernandez is going to jail as soon as he leaves the hearing and won't be free until he's in his 40's or beyond.
He's 23 years old and has an 8 month old son who will be a man himself by the time his waste of a father is free.

I used to watch him on TV and jump out of my livingroom chair and cheer for that guy when he scored.

Talk about having it all and throwing it away. I can't wait to find out the motive.

HaywoodJablonski: Can someone tell me why the Pats are still favored to win the Super Bowl?

Tom Brady's top 4 receiving targets for week 1 will possibly be Amendola, Michael Jenkins, Jake Ballard, and Michael Hoomanawanui.

You might be just as good rolling with whomever is on Jacksonville's practice squad.

Shutting it off doesn't turn off the tracking. You have to pull the battery.

No, don't worry you're safe. I realized I have an iPhone so I'd basically have to destroy the thing to remove the battery to turn off the tracking before murdering someone and dumping their body. And these things are expensive.

Weatherkiss: Another player in the NFL arrested on felony charges. Must be a day that ends in y.

But who cares about how morally bankrupt the players are as long as the home team delivers victory, right? Who cares about how many of them get arrested for violent crimes as long as they shine on the field? By buying tickets to this crap, or buying merchandise to this crap, we send a message to the NFL that hiring criminals to play on their teams is inherently a good thing -- and in the end doesn't matter.

But then our kids grow up wanting to be like the players and want to be a pro football player too, and since they think if you're a violent person who gets into fights, then don't worry... the NFL will set you up with a very sweet contract guaranteeing you a fortune. And all you have to do in return is make a few public apologies and/or find Christ on public television and you'll be forgiven... as long as your player statistics are golden. If your stats aren't golden, then gtfo you worthless criminal.

But as log as everyone's favorite teams win, who cares about rewarding criminal behavior? We sure stuck it to the other guys!

You sir, are a nerd.

If I was ever lead away in handcuffs on charges of a murder I didn't commit, I would scream "I'm innocent!" until I went hoarse.  Especially with cameras around.

Yeah, I'm sure his lawyer probably told him to keep his mouth shut, but I would think emotion would get the better of it.

I am not a court, so the presumption of innocence has no bearing on my opinion.  From the evidence that the prosecution has presented at the arraignment, I am sure that Hernandez murdered Odin Lloyd or had him murdered by the two thugs with guns that he brought with him.  He is guilty.

Without actual video of him pulling the trigger, his lawyer will beat the murder charge (reasonable doubt: why would a pro bowl footballer do the killing himself?) and get it dropped to accessory or a much lesser charge. He'll spend less time in jail than Vick did.

Now, if he had killed a pregnant woman...

Since the prosecution went for a 1st degree charge, he might beat it on a technicality, arguing that it was somehow 2nd degree murder. Of course, that's why the firearms charges are there. By themselves they are probably worth 5-10 years

Deneb81: Pop Goes The Weasel: Yanks_RSJ: robsul82: Hernandez bought "rolling paper, used for marijuana" at a gas station before the murder.

And bubblegum.  That monster!

I thought that reference was odd as well, but after linking it together, sounds like Hernandez was taken down by his love of Blue bubbalicious.

I think the idea is that it shows he is cold blooded - he's calmly getting gum and rolling paper while on his way to kill a guy.

According to TMZ (consider the source), the significance of purchasing the gum is that a piece of chewed cotton candy Bubbalicious was found at the scene of the murder near a shell casing.  That would also provide pretty compelling DNA evidence, I'd think.

I don't like hearing that stuff.  And that's on the list somewhere below "Will Pierce follow Doc?" or "Why is our backup catcher on the 60 day DL?"
I only have enough space in my head for this Hernandez stuff, the Stanley Cup aftertaste and Patrice Bergeron's lungs, Doc Rivers replacement (he got off the hook easy today), and when will Clay Bucholz pitch again?

I'm not really sure how 2nd degree murder is possible in a case where it is alleged that the victim was shot several times.  This wasn't a beating that got out of hand, they picked him up, took him to a field and shot him, a lot.

2013-06-26 04:06:35 PM
I think it says something about his mental state that they walked him out in sweats and a tshirt.

Wouldn't his lawyer know he's getting arrested and wouldn't he dress for it, to look professional and not look like a lowlife getting busted?

What if he's a lowlife and proud of it?  That, or in denial, that would explain it.  I can't believe this was a surprise to him.

Especially since they also apparently have texts coming from him coordinating the murder.

Ultimately I think the two other guys are going to cooperate, and Hernandez is going to plea.   He's toast.

And apparently he's coming to my town, since I live about ten minutes from the Bristol County House of Corrections. His lawyer was the moron who yesterday blasted media reports that warrants were out for Hernandez's arrest and that would take place imminently.

That little diatribe probably cost his client the opportunity to avoid this morning's perp walk.

Actually, I vaguely recall hearing of a case(s) where multiple shots were specifically argued to show second degree -- a fit of passion/rage.  The argument typically goes that in a fit of rage, the shooter emptied the clip.  As compared to a single, calculated execution-style shot.

Not saying that this will fly in this case.  From what I've heard/read, there's plenty to show premeditation.

They probably will ultimately.  They do have cellphone tracking on Hernandez putting him at the vicitim's residence and then to the murder site the time the murder is believed to have happened.  Did they have that with OJ?
