That comic is painfully unfunny.  (yes, that's the joke, but Christ)

I got strip-searched just today.  They found coal, phosphate dishwasher soap, a santa hat and a bible.  I won't be able to post for a while, they won't have wifi at my FEMA camp until they get the Solyndra PV array replaced.

Keep the faith.

A guide to high-quality conservative humor:

#1 Self deprecation is bad.  Nothing is funnier than a person who is right about everything, and better than everyone else(especially liberals).
#2 Never defy expectations.  Your readers expect the liberal to say something moronic, make sure you put dumb words in their mouth.
#3 Tearing down a straw-man argument is hilarious.  It's never enough to put stupid words in a liberal's mouth, it is also necessary for your perfect conservative protagonist to point out the glaring flaw in the argument that you, yourself inserted.  This is funny because no joke was ever ruined by being explained.
#4 Racism is not ok.  So don't call your black people Attractive and Successful African Americans.  Go ahead and give Obama big purple lips though.

This is what conservatives actually believe.

Honestly, it's not really what they believe.  The way Winston describes belief in 1984 is a much clearer image.  They have to believe that problems are caused by the enemies of the party.  And if it's necessary that they believe the problems were caused by the party, like everything Bush did wrong, then its enemies of the party inside the party.

The only thing that book got wrong is that there would only be 2 minutes of hate per day.

"Day By Day" by Chris Muir

I was looking for the one that was nothing but hot chicks sitting around in their underpants downplaying the number of civilian casualties in Iraq, but I can only handle so much derp.  Oh, the strip also has a token black friend, who "finally left the Democrat Party's plantation."

The only thing that makes Day-By-Day tolerable is that the writer is a single middle-aged man, living on $13,000 a year, who has never achieved anything of value in his life.  It makes it seem less harsh when you realize that he's just writing his rich-person fanfic, and has no actual idea how women or money works.

I don't think it's meant to be funny at all, it's meant to be mean. It's meant to be insulting. It's there to give the writer a feeling of superiority. That's the whole point of these fumetti/cartoons.

@John the Econ
"Unimaginably extreme? Perhaps. But then consider this: How much of what we've witnessed of this government was unimaginable to most just 5 years ago?"

Agreed! After having toured the Holocaust Museum in D.C. some seventeen years ago I can say that what happened in Nazi Germany in the thirties is EXACTLY what is happening in the U.S. now. Back then if Hitler would have started immediately with what went on in the late thirties and early forties the population would have rebelled and thrown him out on his ear. His initial attempts at taking over failed miserably. But eventually incremental-ism won over the people who tolerated the intolerable one small step at a time; for the sake of "safety", the common "good", and so forth.
As you said, how much is now tolerated, or even championed, that only a few short years ago would have caused most intelligent, thinking people to cry, Enough!"?

Question, why does he keep calling him Mr.Soetoro?
Is that some kind of birther thing?

His stepfather's surname was Soetoro, and that was the name used when he attended school in Indonesia. He (the President) later went back to using his birth name. (Actually, I can't remember if he ever referred to himself as Soetoro or not, but it was used on his school registration.)

Anyway, the point being that calling him by a name that he no longer uses is just...petty. It's like when people were calling him B. Hussein Obama. Yes, that is/was technically his name, but when literally *no one* calls him that and he himself has stated how he prefers to be called, it's just puerile. Like, my two year old has better manners. It's just profoundly stupid.
