"Real estate expert Iddo Gavish of Gavish Real Estate said he has no idea why the price is so low, but that condition and location could play a role. "

Speaking of typos, I am fairly certain that Gavish is a typo for Garish.

What is it about gay men and sex in the bathroom?

found out recently from a limo driver out in Vegas that Liberace was actually quite the real estate flipper.  he'd buy home all over Vegas, do a little bit of work (lots of mirrors and stuff to make them more, well, Liberace) and then sell the house.  so there are home all over the place that "once belonged to Liberace"

It also seems his idea of a practical joke was to throw lavish house parties with undercooked seafood laced with laxatives.

I don't know if it says anything in the article, I can't open the link, but it MUST have some kind of piano performance hallway/theater room large enough to accommodate the number of guests that would require 10 bathrooms.  Right?

From the listing it has a 40x38 main room, 2 or more 20x18 family rooms (possibly quite a few of these from the description), a 15x25 dining room, the main bedroom is 25x33 and the second bedroom is 18x27, so that accounts for at least 4000 sq ft of it. Then you have the 3 full bathrooms and 7 half bathrooms

2013-06-26 12:06:11 PM
Perhaps it is priced due to the fact that 10 bathrooms for 2 bedrooms is a serious design flaw, similar to Aaron Hernandez's 3 car garage.

2013-06-26 12:18:11 PM
Seems pretty exposed.  If Liberace's fans weren't all dead maybe it could have been turned into a museum.

Yeah, I'm guessing that there is a lot of common area space in that house. Maybe even more than one dining room. Although 10 bathrooms still seems ludicrous. Especially if they are hard to find. If they are down the hall, past the second dayroom on the left, and thru the bookshelf, it seems kind of counter productive to have for all of your extra guests.

Seems like the low price is like setting the starting price at $1 in an Ebay auction; IE, the seller knows it will sell for a high price and that there will be multiple offers, so it's to trigger a bidding war.  The actual sales price will probably be several times the stated listing price.

Larry Craig and George Michael are in a bidding war for it as we speak.

Yep, never pass up the opportunity to have a piss, and never trust a fart.  I like it when a group of friends gather and someone tells a story about someone they all know shat him/herself, after the story is over and everyone is done laughing there's that quiet moment when everyone is thinking back to the time when they 'trusted' a fart.

Heck, I'm a live- alone bachelor and have a urinal installed in my bedroom.
And by "urinal installed" I mean a 5 gallon bucket with a sawed off upside-down Clorox bottle in the hole in the top.

Looks like someone should buy it and turn it into a performance space.

Ok, how about this:  No lines for doing coke in the bathroom.  Considering the era that Liberace lived in, this might be plausible.  Then again, if you are in his house, do you really need to go to the bathroom to do a line of coke?

FTA: "The property is just shy of half an acre. Two oversized bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and they are asking $35 a square foot. You couldn't build that house for $35 a square foot," Gavish said.

Only two bedrooms where you can.....

Is it really that much trouble to go to the bathroom?  (Assuming there is one and it's not a shiatty little studio apartment with communal bathrooms...)

Also, wouldn't that start to smell?

This was the main house he lived in for years.

The reason for the weird layout and number of bathrooms is that it was actually created by combining a number of adjcent 1960s tract homes.  Liberace started out with one, and as he got more successful, he bought out the neighbors, expanding to connect the houses.

But the thing which apparently makes the place really weird is that he left all the ceilings at their original heigth of eight feet, so there are these huge rooms with really low ceilings.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to hang a sex swing from a vaulted ceiling?

The house is in a TERRIBLE neighborhood.  It's almost right across from UNLV on the other side of Tropicana.  Not the worst in Vegas, but it's hardly a desirable location.

I don't get it. Is tgat some gayass thing? And isn't that kinda dangerous because you could be in the shower and acadently flip the switch and then BAM, your foots getting dragged into the disposal leaving you to bleed out in the shower as you struggle and call out in vain for help?

There's the plot for a porn film right there.

freetomato: I like his Palm Springs home better.

Yeah, the Palm Springs house actually isn't bad.  My personal favorite is the penthouse in LA, which has actually been preserved and was used in the movie.

Somewhere, I have a book all about Liberace's houses, put out by Lee himself.  It's so terrible it's awsome.
