You can try to be cool, but you'll never be as cool as Johnny Depp.  Evar.

Got fricking dusty in here when I read that.

/from what I saw during the Actor's Studio interview, the guy is painfully shy. Seems like it might even be a little easier for him to interact in public as a character.

Would've gone with the Hero tag on this one, but I'm sure it was too dusty to see.

/nice job Johnny

No, I'm not going to be "that guy." Mr. Depp worked for everything he has.

Let's not forget that by doing this he also puts his life at risk as he is ever in danger of being suffocated beneath a pile of thrown nurse undergarments.

I bet they're sick of him

Thats actually pretty damn cool

2013-06-26 08:23:18 AM
Amusing that he doesn't dress as Edward Scissorhands or Willy Wonka.

2013-06-26 08:23:27 AM
He seems like a douche in every interview, but he also seems like a genuinely good guy

/any 'journalist' that uses the word 'literally' should be fired on the spot.

I_C_Weener: Edward Scissorhands

I don't think it would be a good idea to be around a lot of IV lines in that get-up.

2013-06-26 08:27:03 AM
He's a nice guy all right, and if it just so happens that the hottest nurse/doctor in the hospital gives him the nod to meet him in the linin closet for a good rogering then who's to say he doesn't deserve it...after all, he brings joy to the children.

This. He used to sell the best drugs to my cousin when he was in the area during his 21-Jump Street days.

The joke's on the kids. As soon as he arrives in the hospital room, all he does is chain smoke and talk about his band.

Kidding. Good for him.

I've never been much of a Johnny Depp fan but bravo, Johnny.  Good on ya, lad.

I'm not much of a Johnny Depp fan, but this bumps my appreciation of him up several notches. That's really a great thing for him to do.

I'm surprised Disney lets him use it. I know its for a good thing but still. They must have good faith in him or write it off as a marketing tool.

I didn't need an autoplay commercial encouraging me to visit Charleston, SC. I'm already here and want out.

Also, good on Mr. Depp (although I have still heard that he's a decidedly odd cat - which is fine).

RDJ should take a page from his book... though lugging around the Iron Man costume might be a bit more cumbersome and difficult to get into.  If only he really had a portable suit that he carries around in a suitcase...

Couldn't he just pay some schmo minimum wage to wear the suit and pretend he's RDJ? That's what I would do.

Sharon Stone used to do the same thing, but for some reason her appearing as Catherine Tramell in the children's ward upset some folks.

Even if it isn't in his contract, I'm pretty sure Disney is smart enough not to be on the wrong side of a news story about Depp being forbidden to visit sick children in character...

I saw a lengthy interview with him and seems like a genuinely great guy. Of course, he is an actor, so it could be a front and then he goes home to beat his wife. Doubtful, though.

It would be more fun if he showed up as his character in Dead Man, but only if Nobody joined him.

Disneyland tried having a Jack Sparrow character walk around the park. The character was later nixed for being too disruptive (because he kept getting hit on by women)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume you haven't met very many real nurses.

I remember what a big deal it was the first time he did this. His daughter, while he was filming Sweeney Todd, got deathly ill and spent some time at the children's hospital in London. He was so grateful that he dropped a giant wad of cash, called up Disney and had them drop and even bigger wad of cash on that hospital, had his costume flown in from Florida and spent a couple of days entertaining the kids. Then he invited the staff that personally worked on his daughter to the movie premier in London for ST.

Guess he got addicted to the hospital smell or something.

Yeah, I am not shocked by this. I can only imagine the amount of sexual harassment the Princesses alone suffer, but Jack? Wow.

truth. from my experiences in hospitals (wife has had 2 surgeries + 1 c-section in the 5 years we've been together, plus a couple e.r. visits for each of us and the older kid) it would only take the undergarments of 1 or 2 of your average hospital nurses to take a man of j.d.'s stature down

Nah, he's figured out it's the perfect cover for swiping drugs.

Imagine it, you see Jack Sparrow leaving the Paediatric Cancer Wing, weaving as he lurches down the corridor. You just think he's in character as a rum soaked pirate...

Now, where the hell did that litre of Oramorph go?
