Now it's retro.

Weird...the article author uses the term "subbys" to mention people submitting their stuff. I've only ever heard this term on Fark.

Your thinly veiled ad-tempt to get me to log back in to that ghost town isn't going to work, shilmitter.

Listen, if I wanted to be alone on a social networking site, I'd log back in to my Google+ account

What a great idea I just learned from the internet on how to be ironic.

Myspace?

Oh yeah. That's the one my grandparents talked about. They used to Myspace by candlelight.

2013-06-26 08:17:55 AM
Yeah. Probably not.

2013-06-26 08:18:35 AM
Hey cmon now, Myspace is still good for picking up girls with daddy issues that are susceptible to coercion.

"As it turned out, lots of users were uploading their own music and using it as a way of promoting themselves." - Some article writer is not quite old enough to remember what the actual original purpose of myspace was.

Also, a resurgence bothers me a little because they never let me delete my account no matter how many times I tried.  I am still searchable.  If there is a resurgence I want my stuff off of there.

2013-06-26 08:38:43 AM
I guess it was about 8 or 9 months ago when this exact story came out - again - I signed into my account for the first time after the change. I was surprised to see there was nothing of my old account left. I basically had to start over (unless I am too old to know how to recover it) so I said "Nuts to this" and signed out and haven't signed in again since.

MySpace was also the last social network I was a member of, so since everyone else had abandoned it anyway, nothing of value was lost.

There's also this cool new media downloading software called mIRC

Pretty sure it was just trending because of the Catfish episode last night and not because anyone actually uses it for the stated purpose.

2013-06-26 08:40:00 AM
my iPhone is provided for me by my employer and I don't see the need of owning two phones so I don't use any of those services.  I'm aware most of them are available on a PC but honestly the last thing I want to do is check up on that shiat when I get home from work. I will say this though, I can watch vinepeek for hours at a time. It's like watching the whole world on TV.  On most occasions that I watch it it actually makes me feel just a tiny bit better about humanity.

I'm so old, I listened to a segment on NPR about what social media sites the teens are into these days.  I'm assuming that teens are not into NPR.

I saw a commercial aired for it and was like, Tom has some big balls. I mean you're going to invest in a national TV spot for a failed social networking site with a stigma attached?

2013-06-26 08:54:38 AM
Myspace. An internet ghost town. Everything was left just as it was years ago, never updated. It's now a time capsule.

2013-06-26 09:02:45 AM
theGlobe.com for the win. Though to be honest using theGlobe's message board was kind of confusing and not designed well.

Their whole campaign on Adult Swim is based on two female models kissing.  EDGY!

I am for two models kissing, mind you, but it seems to be a bit far fetched.  It's the most notable thing about the commercial.  It doesn't make me want to get onto myspace...
