(The Hill)   John McCain, arguing in favor of an amendment to the Immigration Bill, says that the US-Mexico border will be "the most militarized border since the fall of the Berlin Wall." So, I guess we really did win the Cold War   (thehill.com) divider line 151

I mean this is not only sufficient, it is well over-sufficient. We'll be the most militarized border since the fall of the Berlin Wall. That's why I think this amendment was very important

I see. So, he's not just saying it's the most militarized border since the Berlin Wall, he's admitting it's overkill. Got it.

Also, Sudan/South Sudan, India/Pakistan, Best/Worst Korea, and Israel/Everything around Israel would all like to have a word.

"Defense" spending is welfare for the wealthy.

At least we've found a way to get the GOP to agree to some sort of infrastructure spending and government stimulus ..... just base it around grotesque racism.

I am torn. Dunno if McCain is mendacious or just a dumbass.

2013-06-25 02:34:34 PM
why can't we just literally murder anyone trying to cross the border illegally?

hopefully I got this in before someone made that suggestion in earnest

Since when the fark is that a GOOD thing! Granted, I never went through or experienced the Iron Curtain, but the fricking rigmarole that they put us through when we came back from Europe had me wondering if there'd been a Bolshevik revolution in the nine days I'd been gone. Seriously, if you don't travel outside of the country (read: most Americans), then you have NO idea what it looks like from the outside in. If I had ever bothered to imagine what the Iron Curtain looked like, that airport terminal was it, down to the soldiers with M4s.

/wonders if Russians were the same way. No idea what was going on because most of the time they never set foot outside the country

John McCain, A leader I would follow into hell.
And leave his ass there.

don't you think that if the U.S. didn't want  cheap labor   er...um.. illegal immigrants coming into the country from the south, they would have taken care of the problem years ago?  are we just now improving on our wall building tech?  meh.

might i suggest desert tortoises with laser beams on their freaking heads?

One kept citizens who wanted to leave in, the other would hopefully keep illegal foreign invaders out.

But I understand subby knows the difference.

"This is a border security measure which I think should suffice to satisfy any critic and it is a tough way forward and it is a way forward, a tough way forward so that we can resolve this and bring 11 million people out of the shadows," McCain said on Tuesday touting the measure.

How does increasing border security change the number of people already in the country?

There isn't, because in practice, it ends up doing both.

These old people NEED a bad guy.  They need a never ending battle and they'll take whatever they can get.  I don't understand this need for a cold war and I find it reprehensible.  Sometimes there are just no world threatening or culture warring THEY'RE THE BAD GUYS AND THEY'LL MAKE THE WORLD IN THE IMAGE, I SWEAR!!! conflicts.

Accidentally bump into a suspected one. If they say, "Sorey" call the authorities immediately.

(Canadians are always apologizing, even when not at fault.)

Will any resources be dedicated to securing the US & Canadian border? Just curious.

It probably increases it slightly, because illegals in the U.S. who want to leave (re-unite with family, etc.) can't leave and hope to return if they change their minds, visit family/friends who stayed, etc.

I suppose I would support the full bill with this border wall provision, but damn, I can think of a lot better things to do with tens of billions of dollars than engage in a pissing contest with Best Korea over whose DMZ is more hardcore.

One question,

Who Is Paying for This Fraking Wall?!  We are broke.  We have no money for schools, roads, bridges, food stamps, ect.

Oh, this is part of our nations "defense".  Why look at this, we just found 30 billion under the couch cushion!
