Once again, freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences.

She's a victim of being a racist b*tch.

You know who else was a victim of lynch mob culture?

The black people Paula Deen hates.

It would be easier if we circled the restaurant around them.

She probably doesn't 'hate' them, more likely she has little to no respect or consideration for their feelings.

"Lynch mob culture".  She actually said that.

/n-word please

"...Why does this country still hate the American South so much?"

A history of de facto and de jure discrimination and prejudice which, it seems from Deen's comments and actions, has not entirely disappeared.  I don't "hate the South," I hate racism.  There is a lot about the South that I like very much.  The food and the music, in particular, are great.  But these good things do not excuse the bad things, any more than the beautiful scenery of Washington State makes the pollution at the Hanford facility acceptable.

"You think there isn't deep hateful racism in cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles? I can tell you, that you are wrong."

Sure there is.  I hate it there too.  It's just less acceptable there and the people who act that way there are shunned, rather than celebrated.

"It's easy to hate Southerners, isn't it?"

You're making it easy, Anne.  If you want people to stop thinking the South is full of racists, you should probably stop defending Southern racists.

And stop acting like because a single Southerner is getting a ton of shiat for her beliefs that it means all Southerners are getting the same. It's a whiny butthurt persecution complex, and it's really, really sad.

The entire lawsuit is odd, especially considering that the woman suing for racial discrimination is white.

she's getting attacked because this is just another bit of evidence that she is a raging sociopath but this incident allowed her sponsors to dump her without having the pay her a big severence or settlement

Helluva choice of words given the subject matter.

To be fair, not only Southerners have this built-in racist thing.  My father-in-law is from Western Pennsylvania and he uses that word too.  And you should hear my Grandfather from California (about pretty much everyone).  Maybe it's partly generational... maybe it's part educational.

2013-06-25 02:16:50 PM
Yes, Anne, everyone is beating up on the poor old racist.

Go f*ck yourself Anne, and eat a bowl of dicks for creating the emo vampire bullsh*t genre that paved the way for Twilight.

To be fair, I hate the South more these days for their insane politics. But yeah, the racism is bad too.

"It's easy to hate Southerners, isn't it?"

You know, what? Yeah, it is. Isn't it weird how permeating ill will toward everyone outside of one's exclusive club of bigots, mouth-breathers, and traitors results in that same ill will being returned toward one? Isn't it strange how attempting, on numerous occasions and many capacities, to destroy a nation's government makes other people who are usually ambivalent towards that same government find these people a nuisance and a bit of a cultural albatross around the non-reddened necks of the rest of the country?

2013-06-25 02:21:04 PM
I thought it odd at first that Anne Rice was defending someone randomly for racist viewpoints in the south... then I thought, oh right, Anne Rice turned into a born again christian and knows what side butters (so to speak) her bread now.

According to Deen, it wasn't slavery-themed. It was state's rights-themed.

Anne Rice just wants to get her name in the news because she's upset that people on the internet are comparing Paula Deen's creepy laugh to something out of an H.P. Lovecraft story rather than one of her own.

I'm not sure who I dislike more, Paula Deen for planning this, or the Southern Belle bridezilla who asked for it.

/I'll bet money the groom was a member of the KA fraternity in college, probably at the University of Georgia.

Once again, the Jews using the blacks, as muscle.

The South is the worst part of America, everyone knows this. It's weird when Southerners talk about being persecuted, it's like when fat people complain about being lonely.

I learned in my freshman year at Western Kentucky that you can piss off a KA frat boy to no end if you take a Sharpie to any of their gear and write in an extra "A" at the beginning. AKA, you see, was a black sorority.

That happened at my school as well, the black fraternities would also take turns painting their lawn jockey white.

Anne Rice sure posed a lot of questions in that, didn't she? Did she even make a statement at all? Was she just asking questions to make people think? Is it fitting that reported from Fox News, another place famous for just asking questions?

It's a feeble attempt to turn the tables and make a wealthy white woman into a victimized minority (a southerner). Which she could almost pull off if a "lynch mob" were chasing Deen through the woods (torches and pitchforks in hand) over her accent or her love of NASCAR. This is regarding racism, though, and I don't think the Butter Queen is being targeted specifically because she's a "southerner".

How is love of racism any different than love of NASCAR?

Since when has anyone from New Orleans considered themselves "Southern"?. I thought New Orleans was a world unto itself down there.

The mullet is optional for racism.

I'm waiting for Chic Fil A to hire Deen and start replacing their fryer grease with butter.

Note: if their shiat is already buttery I wouldn't know, I'm way outside of their markets.

Meh.  People are making too big a deal out of it, but she really is the worst and her Southern minstrel routine should really be an insult to Southerners everywhere.

Of course, she seems to be huge with people from "southern" places like the Atlanta suburbs who like to play Southern minstrels.

It is, and Anne Rice wrote straight up porn, then gay porn under the guise of vampires, and now is born again.

Anne Rice should be crucified for allowing Stan Rices poetry to be printed.

She is from Albany, GA this attitude is normal around those parts.  Go to any of the mid-sized towns south of Macon and you will find segregation still is in full effect.

"Lynch Mob", huh?

You know...I don't want to bum everyone out and post a bunch of NSFW photos, but if you haven't done so before, do a GIS for the term "lynching" so you can see what an actual lynch mob looks like.

Hint: it's a lot more unpleasant than what's happening to Paula Deen
