Subby: The Rays end the Jays' historic winning streak with a little historic streak of their own: 3 consecutive solo homers

hiatting three home runs in a row is not "historic".  Many, many teams have hit three in a row.  Heck, last year the first three Orioles to bat hit consecutive home runs off of Colby Lewis.

Seven teams have hit four home runs in a row, including four teams in the last decade.   Most recent: Diamondbacks hit four consecutive solo HRs off of Dave Bush.

For more style points, the Dodgers entered the 9th inning against the Padres down 9-5 in 2006, and hit two consecutive home runs off of some random dude.  Then the Padres brought in Trevor Hoffman, and the Dodgers hit two more home runs off of his first two pitches to tie it.  And they did it at Dodger Stadium, where you're lucky to see four home runs in a month.

Baseball has a long history.  "Historic" events are therefore rare.

Historic in the sense that every moment in history is historic. It's the second time the Rays have done it. hell, the Padres once led off a game with three straight dingers.

And I picked tonight to go to the game.

They had to lose eventually, and Reyes is in the wings, so no worries.

Tampa always beats them anyway.

I was kinda shocked to read the Rays had actually done it before.

Fun fact: Whenever you hit three consecutive home runs, the last two are always solo.

11 in a row?  Meh.  The Oakland A's laugh at 11 in a row.

Not always. There was the Cardinals game back in the 80's where the catcher accidentally

The Dos Equis guy once hit a lead-off grand slam.

Exactly. The pressure of the streak is over, gave them a nice fat boost at an opportune time. Now the Jays can get down to business of playing .600+ ball the rest of the way.

And lets not forget that last month, the Tigers had three solo homeruns in a row, followed by a Miggy grand slam in that same ending.
