"A dangerous criminal who on several thousands of kilometers of highway in Germany, France, Belgium and Austria would reach for a gun whenever, wherever to shoot at other vehicles and endanger people's lives. It's unprecedented in Germany criminal history."  says the guy who has never watched the History Channel.

Ziercke says the suspect - who was not identified as per German law - blamed road rage for his attacks. The trucker was arrested Sunday.

See, America? This is how a justice system is supposed to work.

Is there ANYTHING the Germans have gotten wrong since 1945? It's like they've doubled down on the awesome to make up for their predecessors' mistakes.

Inorite?  They're even better at serial shootings.

Oh, I don't know. There's still the integration of the Ostis and the ongoing issues with several generations of gastarbeiteren. Don't get me started on the poorly implemented Energiewende.

Still, when compared with the Japanese "nothing to see here, kids" view of their sordid history, the Germans have worked very hard to create a country worthy of emulation.

Police say the highway attacks became more dangerous a year ago when the culprit began firing larger caliber ammunition.

This should be fun. I'll get some popcorn.

That's some odds defying luck there. 700 cars shot, and only 1 person hit. Impressive.

FTFM

We have a case similar in Detroit, only the case against the guy is falling apart since the only person injured proved to not be his victim.  They may get some charges to stick, but the attempted murder is out.

A friend of mine went to some pizza delivery tier law school in Detroit and got shot at in traffic in less than a week.  Apparently he brake checked a guy who was tailgating him and in retaliation the guy put three bullets into the trunk of his car.  When the cops finally showed up and he explained the story the cop basically told him he was to stupid to survive in Detroit, but if he was going to stay should never brake check anyone again.

Some fine police work there.
Over 700 shootings,  means 700 posible eye witnesses.  Yet no license number or any unique identifier.
Isn't there an awful lot of video cameras on European highways?
I assume that the European trucking industry is highly regulated and every truck has a cargo manifest, telling where and when a truck has been.  Shouldn't seven hundred data points reveal a pattern?  Like a rain god.

Unless highway shootings are so common in Germany that this didn't realy stand out.

Yeah, bad cops with good advice.  I too have considered shooting at brake checking folks.  Detroit traffic is just to heavy to worry about tailgaters, and tailgating is the only defense against getting cutoff.

However the case that I am referring to, the guy was (allegedly) shooting at opposing traffic not the traffic around his car.  He can't say road rage.
