Spaceballs II?  No.  Spaceballs III:  The Search for Spaceballs II?  Maybe.  Spaceballs 0: The Gratuitous Prequel?  Absolutely.

Mel Brooks, call me.

Man, Spaceballs III: the Search for Spaceballs II would be farking awesome.

with today's cgi, Spaceballs III: The search for Spaceballs II could be amazing.  There could be a scene showing clearing on a monitor some CGI in rendering progress while the finished cgi scene was happening.  could be epic.

/really wish they could get their shiat togther and make another Spaceballs.  The show sucked.

I just figured he was being roasted in the depths of the Sloar.

what happened to him?  he's rolling around in a big piled of money.

I would have a beer with the guy.

Not because he's famous and not because he's funny, but because he's got his priorities straight, keeps his shiat together, and possesses introspective wisdom the other 97% of Hollywood could only hope to achieve.

This reminds me of an important question I've always had:

Who would win in a fight, Rick Moranis or Martin Short?

Discuss.

I wouldn't have a beer with him.  He wears socks with sandals.

/actually he is ok in my book but he really needs to stop wearing socks with sandals.  Actually if you are not on the beach or Jesus, you really just shouldn't wear sandals.

He still has a net worth of $10 million dollars.  He's not an idiot with all the money he made in the 80s-90s

I think I heard that the only reason they did that show was because SCTV moved to Canadian television. The new producers wanted them to do a certain amount of "Canadian content" or whatever, and also they had to pad out the run time because of differences in commercial lengths between Canadian and US broadcasts. So the whole thing started as a one-off to piss off the CBC, since the show was already filmed in Canada using a largely Canadian cast.

Whatever, it was great. Rick Moranis is kind of underrated as a comedian, because nobody ever realizes just how much of his stuff is improvised. That whole monologue in Ghostbusters, where he goes around the whole party in a single take? Improvised it completely. They just turned him loose and he nailed it.

He's a 60 year old Canadian Jew. Not to mention he's RICK MORANIS. You expect something dorky like that.

On the set of "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids", Moranis and Matt Frewer would just go off improvising stuff, which only really became a problem after Marcia Strassman and Kristine Sutherland (the characters respective wives in the movie) started laughing and the director kept forgetting to cut the scene. Supposedly the outtake real is something to behold.

From the linked NYT article:

...a lot of brises are done in hospitals, but many are done in people's homes, and there's a lot of food, and a lot of leftovers.

Seriously, though, I'm with Alfonso: Moranis seems like a cool dude who has his head on straight. Such a shame about his wife, but he's handled things like a man.

My favvorite Rick Moranis song , SOS, is not on the youtube, but I do really like his country album.

SCTV was always Canadian. It moved from Global to CBC during its run.
The Bob & Doug skits were to fill in extra air time on the Canadian version when it started airing in the US as well.

Also to meet the "Canadian content" stipulation of the CBC.

That's not fair, Martin Short has Dragon carrying him around.

Since we are talking about SCTV, anyone know where there is a full clip of Grizzly Abrams? There's a short clip out there of the beginning of the skit, but the whole skit seems to be m.i.a.

LonMead: Some of his best work, in my humblest of opinions.

I've always loved that album. My dad brought it home from the record store for me when I was seven years old because I loved 'Aja' and 'Gaucho' so much and it looked at that point like Fagen's solo career was the closest to more Steely Dan I was going to get.

And Rick Moranis was one of my favorite actors as a kid. When 'Two Against Nature' came out, I kind of pictured Rick Moranis in the hypothetical music video, stacking cutouts at The Strand.

Funny how nobody seems to ask him about a 'Streets of Fire' sequel. That was one of those weird-movie-great-soundtrack pieces that only teenage girls ever love.

I loved his opening speech during the trial in Ghostbusters 2:

"Your honor, ladies and gentlemen of the... the audience, I don't think it's fair to call my clients frauds. Sure, the blackout was a big problem for everybody. I was trapped in an elevator for two hours and I had to make the whole time. But I don't blame them. Because one time, I turned into a dog and they helped me. Thank you."
