(WorldNetDaily)   WND writes piece in support of a girls right to play sports even though she may inspire 'impure thoughts' in her male teammates. Don't worry about the lack of craziness in the article though; the poll and comments make up for it   (wnd.com) divider line 82

Not to be a total ass, but if she's tough enough to play defensive tackle I don't think the boys will be lusting over her.

I read this yesterday, and all the comments (I like pain sometimes)  As near as I can figure, most people are upset because.

A- boys are perverts, even good little boys
B- God
C- liberals

not necessarily in that order or with that much rationality.  Its horribly beautiful.

Blythe said Stuart also cited the Bible in making his decision. "They couldn't find an exact quote of why she shouldn't play," she told Fox5 in Atlanta. "He said, 'The best I can up with is that men and women are created equal but different.' And that is all he could say."

These guys have bibles really different than mine. Mine had stuff that basically said women are property.

WND is like the dark corner of your neighborhood bar at 2:00 on a Monday afternoon.

Full of old drunk idiots afraid of everything that isn't white, male, and republican who are more than willing to impart their racist semi literate ramblings to anyone who will listen.

They have the conserva-bible, which says whatever they need it to say to justify their bullshiat while helping them avoid the severe beatings they so desperately need and deserve.

Do cheerleaders still actually cheer at football games? Even when I played football they were considered athletes and had their own competitions.  They didn't risk injuries by cheering at football games.

Yeah injuries.  Cheerleading is arguably the most dangerous high school sport.

Without having read the article, but having read others from WND.

I will state with a great deal of certainty that the one thing that's for sure is the guy WAS NOT convicted simply for exercising his 5th amendment no matter how breathless they are about it.

"she has her own locker room"

Um, don't public schools also insist on boys-only football teams after a certain grade level?  Those that do allow girls to play football with boys usually have a big "what the fark were they thinking" scandal after the first serious injury of a female player by a 300 pound boy.

Yeah, I'd heard it was pretty dangerous, but when I was in school, they still cheered at the games. I thought that was kind of the point, are they really skipping all of that now and ONLY doing competitions? Wow...

Well, yeah, once they started having their own competitions, they had to out-do each other with the height and precariousness of their formations.  And while in my day it was acceptable to have one male cheerleader on the squad who helped lift and dismount the upper tier without participating in the formation himself, I don't think they do that anymore.

I will state with a great deal of certainty that the one thing that's for sure is the guy WAS NOT convicted simply for exercising his 5th amendment no matter how breathless they are about it.

It was about a recent Supreme Court ruling on the 5th Amendment.  It included these quotes:
In the opinion, Justice Samuel Alito said Salinas "was required to assert the privilege in order to benefit from it," even though a person questioned while under arrest could not have his silence used against him.
Whitehead noted that during the trial, the prosecutor suggested Salinas' silence during the police interview prior to his arrest was a "very important piece of evidence."

It actually didn't talk about the crime or case at all - just the SC ruling.  Which is that apparently if you don't talk to the cops the prosecutor can then say to the jury "Well, if he didn't do it - why didn't he say he didn't do it" - but if you say "I'm taking the fifth" and then shut up - they can't.

Of course, I'm assuming that saying "I'm taking the fifth" would be acceptable.  That might not be the perfect magic phrase Alito would want to here.  For all anyone knows he thinks you can't not talk to the police only if you first recite the fifth amendment backwards and in Esperanto.

Regardless - it is an incredibly non-derpy date at WND.  Either one of these articles could have fit in just fine at Huffington Post.  They're even slightly less extreme than you would expect at DailyKos.

Title IX is what they were thinking.

We had a girl play JV football back in HS.  Her older brother (a varsity player) goaded her into it by saying "She couldn't do it"

Our school team had a couple of dudes for that sort of stuff.  I gather that there was a serious upside to that gig.
