How did McQuaid not get suspended for his vicious upper cut cross check to Shaws face?
Will be at work but will PVR the game. Going to watch Toews lift the cup in Boston. Going to be sweet justice.

Finding out today if I landed a three month contract to handle a liquor distributor's print collateral... That a Bruins' win will make the day complete. : )

No offense, Chicago, but I'm rooting for the Bruins because tonight is my school's graduation, so I won't be home until late in the game, if at all. That said, I've got some knowledge to drop now, and I've got plenty of post-playoff summaries to post tonight if this is the end of the season.

First of all, useful information should Chicago take the lead:
The latest any team has held a lead in a potentially Cup-clinching game and failed to eventually win the Cup is 12:14 left in the third period (Detroit-Toronto 1942 Game 7).
The latest any team has held a two-goal lead in a potentially Cup-clinching game and failed to eventually win the Cup is 5:42 left in the second period (Chicago-Montreal 1971 Game 7).

Also, remember that we remain one overtime game away from tying the record for most OT games in a playoff season, and if the hockey gods smile and we get a Bruins OT win tonight, we could break the record with Game 7 bonus hockey, and that means we are all winners.

Next, I'm almost done combing through threads to confirm the badge list. If today is the last day of the season, that list will go up when it's confirmed.

Lastly, when the season is over I will present the second annual Conn Smiths Awards for Excellence in Posting throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Two winners have been determined, the other two are still up in the air.

While for minor personal reasons I'd like the Finals to be over & done with tonight (I really want to shave....), the rest of me really hopes that this goes the full seven.  These teams are just too evenly matched to not have it go the full distance.  Regardless, this has been one hell of a series & if it's over I do also want to thank the regulars here for making watching it even more enjoyable.

Officially 11 (but in reality 11.3-11.5) hours until puck drop, it's going to be a long day....

I just want to chime in that, whether it ends in 6 or 7, it's been a honor and pleasure to be here this Stanley Cup playoffs.

Tonight is the first game I've been nervous about since Game 6 of the Toronto series. That feels like a decade ago.

My original prediction was Hawks in 5... Im lookin pretty good at this point!

Go Hawks!

Chicago deserves to celebrate something good. They've had it worse off than Boston.
Obama is a joke, he's like a George W. The city is going through a gang war. They've had a few floods recently.Boston had a bombing. All that shiat that happened on Fringe, in Boston, does not count as disaster since it's a TV show. So, Chicago, the city, deserves this championship more than Boston.I rest my case.

Bergeron is day-to-day, I heard... a bruised spleen.

Think the boys are going to have to make do without him, unfortunately. That's going to affect the face-off percentages for the Bruins, which has been in the Bruins' favor all series, I believe.

Not taking anything away from Chicago, but it was disappointing to see the Bruins fall back into the lazy, sloppy play they've been engaging in many times over the course of the season. They got outplayed on Saturday.

Let's see if they can turn it around tonight, though. Still a lot of fight in this Bruins team, I think.

Ugh...

Nick Cotsonika @cotsonika:  If Cup is won tonight, will tie for latest date ever -- with 1995, another lockout-marred season. A Game 7 would set a record.

If Bergeron plays, then it will probably go to 7. If not, then the Blackhawks will probably win it tonight.

@GlobeFluto 9mCarl Soderberg centering Brad Marchand and Jaromir Jagr.

Fingers crossed for you! That could be a watershed contract.

I hope the B's win at home tonight, for their fans and to get seven games. Of course I would like to see the Hawks hoist on home ice.

I've enjoyed this series here on Fark because of the good will between Chicago and Boston fans overall. I went to a Red Sox/Cubs game a few years ago and there was the same vibe.

Thanks... It's not ideal. It's actually a bit under my experience level (going from Senior Graphic Designer to Graphic Designer) and it's only three months, but it's income and it establishes my credentials with the Headhunter who set up the interview for me.

We went to Chicago to see the Bruins/Blackhawks game the last time they played in the regular season. People were amazing. Met Cubs' fan on the L, who said they liked the Red Sox and met plenty of 'Hawks fans at the United Center, who said the Bruins' were their second favorite time ('Hawks are generally my Western Conference team).

Got heckled by a couple of drunk assholes, but the 'Hawks fans around us were amazingly nice and we had some great hockey conversations with them... The hecklers actually got thrown out about halfway through the First period after 'Hawks' fans complained to the ushers (They were saying some really inappropriate things to a young lady in a Bergeron jersey, who wasn't part of our group).

Long story short, I love Chicago even though I bleed black and gold. : )

Thanks! I've been unemployed for just over a month now... So, while it's only a three month contract, it's going to allow me to get caught up on some bills and stash a bit of cash.

I usually get a couple of teaching contracts in the Fall, too, so ideally, I should be good right through until the end of the year. I needed some good news, honestly.

See you fine folks later tonight... I'm heading off to Gooseberry Island to go for a swim in the ocean. Might even pick up some clam cakes on the way home. : )

Horizons Beverage in West Greenwich, RI. We spent about 15 minutes of the interview discussing beer and booze. I think telling them that Murphy's is a much better stout than Guinness was the deal sealer (They distribute Murphy's but not Guinness). It pays to do your homework. : )

Well...I was totally wrong after Game 3. I believe that the Bruins haven't played to their ability, but like I said about Pittsburgh...if you can only play your best game 75% of the time, you're 75% of what your best game is.

I'm hoping they get it done tonight, but if not, hey...our weekend camping trip can start on Wednesday instead of Thursday.

2013-06-24 12:21:05 PM
Oops, and I would be remiss if I didn't add that I have a lot of respect for this Chicago team. They haven't done any of the silly off-ice things we've seen from the Canucks, and the Penguins and similarly talented teams.

What's his face poked the bear a little bit with his Chara comments, but it came from a place of honesty and he backed it up in the next game.

As much as a troll some people think I am, I hope you know that I'm not the type to act like a total douchebag about my teams. Usually I'm just trying to joke around when my team is losing and trying to talk intelligently about the game when my team is winning.

The latest from Claude Julien is that he will skate pre-game and he's confident, but not positive that Bergeron will be playing in the game.

I already liked hockey, but it's how I met my girlfriend of 5-6 years. We met at a game with a mutual friend. If you have a girlfriend that likes and understands hockey, you are in for a good time. Hope it works out because knowledgeable hockey girls are awesome.

/unfortunately, if they ever have a chance to sleep with Bergeron or Seidenberg, you'll just have to suck it up and hope she comes back
