(CNN)   Just in time for Bunnday: active-duty Navy Hospital Corpsman rescues and cares for orphaned baby bunnies. Bonus quote: "I'm not sure what they are doing now, but I like to think they are fighting off coyotes with sweet swords and armor"   (cnn.com) divider line 41

I like to think they are fighting off coyotes with sweet swords and armor

It's less of a frontal assault, more of a subtle campaign of terrorism and arson

That Corpsman just outed himself as violating General Order No. 1 in Afghanistan. Military members are forbidden to feed or pet animals down range. I imagine keeping wild animals in your barracks room is also a violation of Pendleton's rules. There needs to be an Article 32 investigation of these possible crimes.

My beagle became very interested in a particular shrub during a walk....sniffed for a moment (no howls mind you), jammed her head underground, and popped up with a baby bunny in her mouth. As is my understanding, all of the 5-6 other that poured out of the ground after that likely became dinner for some other creature...

Those bunnies are about the size of ones in the nest in my backyard that my dog decimated.

Umm, I'm pretty sure "Thou shalt not feed animals thy rations" isn't the first general order. When I was in the marine core, it was "1. Take charge of this post and all government property in view."

In fact, looking at the other ten... hmmm... 2 was to walk my post.... 6.... nope....

Yep, it's confirmed. Your a dumbass.

They will bite your eyebrows to "clean" them.

Sometimes they'll then bite your ear for no good damn reason, but they aren't very smart. Mine especially.

He's a Corpsman, and he had bunnies.  Unless they are amphibious bunnies I'm going to guess he was fighting with Marines.   So calling him a "sailor" doesn't really adequately identify him.

I don't mind a repeat once in awhile.  As long as it's worthy.  Which this certainly is.   Bunny!

As a veteran of the Marine Core who actually deployed, allow me to educate you devil-kitten.  General order number one is different than your first general order.  GO1B is the centcom order that forbids any number of things like booze, porn, gambling, and pregnancy for dod folks who are "in theater."

I don't remember it ever saying we could not feed animals, but I would not be surprised.

Let me educate YOU devil-pup. When I was in the core, we didn't worry about things like "orders". We knew what it took to be total badasses and didn't take no shiat from anyone. If we wanted to eat kittens, we ate kittens!

/sorry.... Poor troll attempt.

What the bunnies may be seeing now

I have 2 bunnies living under my cabin... They ate about 1/4 of my bedding plants and stuff early in the spring and that made me pretty grumpy -- but they are cute...

I would grumble about the bunnies eating my garden and then people would say -- "just shoot it and put it into a pot" But i dont know about that... I'mean -- i have eaten rabbit before and i love it and i have hunted the little bastards and thats not an issue...
1:The bunnies are damn skinny in the spring and now that summers here they aren't going after my stuff. They have so little meat on their bodies after the long canadian winter.
2: My fridge is full of other munchies so its not like i'm starving. The great Les Stroud would frown upon killing and eating an animal when you have animal meat in your fridge that you could eat first...
3: Most of my summer is spent in abject solitude. I have a visitor bring me groceries once every 4-5 weeks and my boss shows up once or twice over the summer to inspect my site/paperwork. I talk to a few people on facebook and i love my fark (but my bandwidth is limited and i have to watch it pretty close) and i call my wife every day to chat on the phone but other than that human contact is pretty limited. The bunnies are like kookie cagey homeless people living in my yard. They bound off if you surprise them but if you talk gently and move slow they will hang out and munch the grass while you sit and drink your morning coffee. They are like spastic little visitors and they provide companionship. I'm not going to eat something that i visit with every morning.

I get that rabbits make good eating -- i just am not too keen on hunting the ones living under my home.

Cute little sob.
