I don't know, if it came on HBO, I'd probably watch it.

Is he still supporting letting kids die because he believes junk anti-vaccination science?

Did he miss the first film or the graphic novels?

What an asshole. Unless that's some half assed Andy Kaufman way of promoting the film, he's farking over people he worked with. Well he would be if he was still at all relevant.

Refusing to do publicity is publicity in itself.

I see what you did there, Mr. Ventura.

Oh shut up Jim.

What a moron. I can't wait to see this movie. I just wish it came out in June like it was supposed to.

I'm confused, did they have someone else do the scenes where he beats people down with a baseball bat and has a dog chew on some genitals?

Oh, he did that?  So it's the other violence that bothers him?

Did he return the money they paid him?

It took him 6 months to figure this out?

That is so lame when people let "recent events" affect their day to day lives or in this case whether they want to make violent movies or not. Like they didn't know violent shiat went on in the world before. That kind of bullshiat mindset makes me stabby.

I was just wondering what she'll look like as an adult.  Like when Natalie Portman was growing up - you could tell she was going to be beautiful.  But Reese Witherspoon was also pretty attractive when she was younger, and then that chin came in.

On one hand: the first one had some serious problems with tone.
On the other: it was probably Nic Cage's best role in a decade.

Head scratcher....I'm pretty sure he's contractually obligated to promote the film either way.

If this manages to make it into some kind of scandal/shiatstorm territory he couldn't do their marketing department a bigger favor. I bet they're praying right now that people talk about Carey saying this.

Infernalist: I'm confused, did they have someone else do the scenes where he beats people down with a baseball bat and has a dog chew on some genitals?

That's what I'm wondering.  Those scenes are subtle clues that an experienced actor, such as Carrey, could have--nee! should have--recognized as signs that the film might just have more than a little violent content.

I know why I will watch it- it looks just as dumb as the first but with even more costumes.
I really liked the first film -it was mindless, campy and funny.

I get it. He's coming from some quasi-sanctimonious place, but I understand why he would want to distance himself from something he willingly filmed. He's not really a violent movie kind of guy. He shoots this to mix it up. And in post we have real shootings nearly every week, culminating in an elementary school being targeted.

The movie and character were fantasy, which is why he signed up, but it's clear that there are a significant number of people out there whose lines are sufficiently blurred that they may take the film as an instruction manual or challenge. He doesn't want to enable, even in a tangential way, something that may lead to dozens of children being murdered.

Can't fault him for that.

I accidentally saw Kick Ass at a "party".  Because it had Nic Cage, I never would have wasted the time to watch it otherwise.  It was surprisingly entertaining.  If there's a sequel on the way, I presume I'll have the same nonchalant attitude about it.  If I happen to see it, fine, but I won't go out of my way.

There is as much evidence that violence in movies cause violence as there is that vaccination causes autism.

So, I'm not surprised that he's taking this stand.

So prior to him willingly shooting his scenes, he didn't know there was violence in the world,

So he returned the money he was paid for this role, right? When he does that, or donates it to some charity, then and only then will I take that clown serious.

Well we hadn't had double-digit numbers of six year-olds being shot in the face at point blank range. That's why it was so shocking.

Killing an entire borough with a gravity machine is a statistic. Killing one family too dumb to walk slowly to the right is a tragedy.

Was he completely oblivious with the source material? Of course it's super violent. Plus, he's making the assumption that he'd be a selling point in the movie. He hasn't been relevant in many years. The days that "What's Kick Ass 2? Jim Carey is in it? Now I gotsta see this!" are long gone.
