The company that went bankrupt after an acrimonious fight with its unionized workers aftersuccessive regimes of management ran thecompany into the ground and refused to adapt to changing tastes by consumers last year and then attempted to blame the company's failings on workers being decently compensated.

Don't give a shiat about the behind the scenes nonsense,  I'm just glad to have the cupcakes back. Toss 'em in the freezer for a little while, eat from the bottom, save the icing for last. Good stuff.

Heraclitus: The new Hostess Twinkies taste like scabs.

Those union workers decided to go on strike. Whether or not management were giving the union workers the shaft with the negotiations and previous contracts (which they were), those workers voted themselves out of a job. Too bad it happened that way.

No, what happened was that they forced a corrupt company to fold. As it should have. If you can't treat your workers with respect and dignity, then you shouldn't run a business and the investors should realize this and force a change. If they don't do that, the investors deserve to lose everything, because it is always a risk. Give the workers the shaft and they should run you out of business. Period.

I think it's more the part the the company that now owns them is owned by the exact same people under a diffrent investment group name that owned them before the sham bankruptcy

On the GOOD size, you have a corrupt company & corrupt union that are no more.

Hosted was going to be be bled dry by the corporate vultures. It was their plan from Day One. All the strike did was force the vampires to speed up their timetable to get their golden parachutes on and leave a pile of smoking ruins.

This.  The workers had already made concession after concession, "for the good of the company", while the executives continued to give themselves hefty bonuses for running the company into the ground.  The union finally decided, "This is where we're drawing the line".  Good for them, and if the company couldn't survive, then that's not their fault.

Frankly, I'm betting the new Hostess will be a much better place to work than the old one, regardless if it's unionized or not.

2013-06-23 06:21:24 PM
FTA: About 15,000 unionized workers lost their jobs in the aftermath.

...which was the entire point in the first place.

So now that they've shed the greedy unions and the expensive obligations that the Farktards say ruin American business, the new Twinkies should be less expensive, right? Right???

Except it's not.  The company was broken apart and sold in pieces to different buyers.  The guys who own this portion of the snack cake business didn't have any prior association with Hostess.  The old guys looted the fark out of the company and got out, which is what makes me think the new company might have a chance.

/Fun fact:  They also own Pabst.
//maybe Twinkies will become the next big hipster thing.

How to break a union like a professional.
1) file for bankruptcy
2) close all your factories
3) sell off the factories and brands
4) profit
