A lot of time being wasted on a just barely above average coach. And getting the combined 137 years of experience of Garnett and Pierce doesn't really make it worthwhile.

If your all-star guard wants a mediocre coach before he re-signs, you buy him a mediocre coach.

He won a title, which kept him from being fired years ago.

The Big Three, or whatever is left, needs to be revamped.

And Ainge should go.

/hear that, Stern?

True. Ainge got lucky when the Big Three won it all the first year. But the team really needs to go into full on rebuilding mode. I remember the end of the Bird Era, when the Celtics held on to their core players way too long and it farked up the whole team. Then it just snowballed into bad coach and player signings, sprinkled with ML Carr dumping games to have a better chance to land Tim Duncan.

I understand the Clips felt they had to do this in order to keep Paul, but is he really worth jumping through all these hoops? Particularly since he can still jump ship. No team should let their front office be held hostage by a single player.

This is the Clippers we're talking about.  The fact that Stephen A(ngry) Smith and probably 99% of all Clippers staff had to shame Donald Sterling into considering this idea in the first place tells you all you need to know about how piss poor he is at running a team.

\Celts do need some change, though, starting with Ainge

If after all the jumping through hoops, Paul went elsewhere, I would never stop laughing.

SI is reporting Doc to the Clips for a first-round pick as a done deal.

Reports are saying that then nba won't allow any further trades between the two teams this season, as they view it as part of this trade. So KG to Clippers will need to go through other teams, I'm guessing.

I can't wait to see King Stern's reaction when the Clips and Celts try to back-door his ruling by respectively trading KG and DeAndre to some third team for like a second round pick or a D-League guy.

I can't blame him for hanging on this year though because of being so close. They lost one NBA finals when Kobe had a terrible final game. Last year, they could have went to the finals against a not ready OKC team; at that point, there was no way to know LBJ was going to make the leap in those last two games. There was still enough hope going into this year that it could be a fluke and they could make it back.

He coached the Magic right before Kevin McHale made the stars align in Boston. He made the first round with Tracey McGrady nearly every year.

Let's not give all the credit to McHale - some has to be given to the Thunder for getting rid of Ray Allen in order to try to eliminate the whole Seattle fanbase and getting a draft pick that they felt would help them in OKC - getting Allen helped the Celtics convince KG to be willing to go to Boston.

Remember, though, Boston was okay to root for because they built their team the RIGHT way - by being there for teams that wanted to f*ck their fans by trading their star and then getting more talent from their former players who had gone on to drain other teams of their talent.
