His hero status is offset by the fact that he's a grown man waiting in like for sneakers.

Robber?

Did he shoot LeBron or Nike? ...because $180 for sneakers is robbery.

So the robber wasnt armed, was not threatening the guy that shot and killed him, this was not self defense, not stand your ground, simple vigilantism and this guy is a hero?

If you've ever waited in line for a pair of sneakers, you're an idiot.

Did the guy called "Save-sies" before he stepped out of line?  Because if not, under the "Cutter, Cutter, Peanut Butter" Doctrine, he loses his space.

I wonder how many people buying these 180 dollar pair of shoes are on Medicaid...

More information about shoes than about the shooting. Journalism at its full ebb.

So this begs the question: was the shooter out of line?

People still get killed for $180 sneakers? Is it 1990 already?

It isn't a race thing at all, you're the one that brought this up. It's a humanity and decency thing. My sister in law is white, on Medicaid and was just cut a check for 20,000 because she hasn't worked in the last four years. She went and bought a car off a lease. If you're on Medicaid I think that your disposable income should be spent on items that could help you get off from sucking the government, not buying 180 dollar pairs of shoes.

And why are you assuming the people in that line are on Medicaid?

People who pay 180 for shoes are prone to bad life choices

People pay too much for stupid shiat all the time.  But for some reason, these "I bet they're all on welfare" comments only come out when those people have dark skin.

I would wager that the people in line are either black or whites acting black

A lot of racist undercurrents, here. Yes, the people were black. Yes, the shoes are (by my standards at least) ugly and overpriced. But these were also American citizens (most likely) lining up to legally buy a product from an American business in an orderly fashion. Some guy who was most assuredly armed or was big enough to intimidate people to give over their money through brute force decided to rob people of their money.

Look... you don't want to get beaten or shot... don't threaten people with bodily harm unless they give you their belongings. You rob or loot, you deserve to get shot. I have absolutely no problem with this and will not accept any kind of sob story about it. I don't care if your kid has cancer and this is the only way in your dim mind to raise the money.

FormlessOne: Bzzzt! Wrong answer. Besides, why wait in line when I can just preorder my HTC and have it delivered to my friggin' house once it's available?

True for you I guess.  But the fact that you're still dropping Brand names just kinda helps prove my point.

My point is every iproduct that launches has a line of thick-rim-glasses-wearing starbucks-sipping hipsters, lined up around the block ready to drop at least $400 on a device they already own with just a couple new features, so they won't look bad around the other hipsters at the coffee house.  My point applies to the people that will be waiting in line for the Xboxone and PS4 as well

Some people get their gratification from Shoes, others get it from Electronics.  Get over it.

Waiting in line is what folks who don't have money, but do have time, do to get such items.

As an aside, it's interesting in that you have to be short on either money or time for it to matter. If you have both, or if you don't have both, you don't care. If you have money, but not time, then you have someone else do it for you; otherwise you have to do it yourself.

I don't think it was the $ amount.  It was the fact he had a gun and was robbing someone.

Conversely, will someone concede a dollar amount at which shooting to kill is justified? $100,000? Or a year's average wage, $38,000? Or the median savings of the American retiree?

Well, thank goodness that someone with a gun was there, people might have actually lost some disposable income.  Thankfully, someone was only shot instead.

Meh, some people collect hubcaps, some collect sneakers. It is a harmless hobby, harmless except for the guy that was shot of course.

Except people who collect sneakers usually spend 70% of their income on them. Not exactly a wise business decision.

Because no one has ever given a gift before?

A pistol would appear to be a more useful present.

I was thinking the same thing. What is the pettiest crime that you are allowed to kill somebody for committing against you in Georgia?
