I see the Supermoon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
I see Super times today.

Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a Supermoon on the rise.

It was already damn bright last night. My daughter had a real hard time sleeping. I had to put my eye cover on.

"There is nothing to fear from the moon being so close and bright, NASA says. It will have no more effect on tides or seismic activity than usual."

So, no Otisburg?

Cosimo? Is that you?

Writer doesn't understand the meaning of "synchronicity"...

The simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection.

Empty H: Thank you subby. I will wake up early tomorrow and have a look.

It was amazing last night. I work the overnight shift and have usually taken my lunch earlier, but was just laying down in an empty room to stretch out my back for a bit when I noticed a GIANT dark orange moon nearing the horizon. From my vantage the early morning sun was just starting to light the windows of the skyrises downtown that the moon was setting between. Start watching a little before moonset and sunrise to catch the best of it.

One of my old colleagues in the ER said it was her worst night over last night. I don't miss that!

M-O-O-N

That spells a full moon at its perigee.

Its absolute twaddle and bullshiat, three nanoseconds of angle.

I will, of course, forget I read this article in a few hours, and get scared shiatless when I look into the night sky and think we are going to die by crashing into the moon.

We have the technology. The time is now. Science can wait no longer. Children are our future. America can, should, must, and will blow up the moon.

that big bad moon's up to no good, i tell ya

I, for one, enjoy listening to people tell me how big the moon looks and how they've never seen it that big...every year (almost).

"Now, I'm sure you have a fantastic concept. I'm going to close my eyes, and I want you to wow me."

"...Uh, is that allowed on school property?"

Damn 7:30?  My friends and I were going to stay up to see it, but I don't really want to pass 4am again tonight.  Oh well, still an excuse to drink a few beers on the back porch and look at the sky.

2013-06-22 09:22:55 PM
With the supermoon, will there be Super-Werewolves?  I am seriously concerned.

My gf works at a a hospital and says the same thing. I'd refute it but there are the numbers to prove it. More psycho assaults, more births, more general mayhem.

As an amateur astronomer, I wish the dumbass news media would stop pushing this like it's going to be some spectacular fireworks show. It incorrectly sets people's expectations and turns them off to skywatching which is really full of wonder and amazement if you have an attention span longer than a fly.

It's not a Michael Bay movie folks.

jake_lex: Neil DeGrasse Tyson on why the "supermoon" thing is bullshiat

I made it to 45 seconds and closed the window. I'm going to go watch some reality TV and hope it makes me smart again.

The local news gal made it very clear that the moon wasn't actually going to get bigger during this period. Thank Christ she cleared that up..

Don't the moon look pretty
Shining down through the trees
Don't that shining moon look pretty, baby
Shining down through the trees
You know I can see my baby
When she can't see me

Yeah, I tiptoe to her window
Just to see my baby snore
I tiptoe to her window
Just to see how sweet she snores
You know it makes me feel like jumping, lord, lord
Through the keyhole in her door

Come crawl up to your window
Let me whisper in your ear
Come on and crawl up to your window, darling
Let me whisper in your ear
You know, I got something to tell you, baby
I don't want that man around here no more
...keep him away

Too bad the moon isn't just outside the Roche Limit, then it would look huge, like in those SciFi posters.

Just by observation, I have to agree with a few of my older colleagues who think that it is usually the 2-3 days before or after the full moon itself that are insane, with the night that it is full being a sort of calm in the center the storm as it were. I see the Farmer's Almanac lists tonight as the actual full moon, so hopefully everyone will get a respite!

Just imagine how bright the Moon would be in the night sky if it wasn't basically the color of asphalt.

You're driving my lawyers crazy with this timey whimey stuff, Subby, and I haven't even done anything yet.
