So in response, Facebook is eliminating the ability to "Select All" when giving game gifts to friends (see last item: October 2, 2012).

Everyone I know who plays FB games will stop at that point.

Seriously. That game is this generation's Battletoads.

Haven't, won't, and don't are the 3 main words that come to mind.

I remember playing this game when it was called Bejeweled.

This is why you should use "Block App" the first time a friend posts something. Don't wait for it to spread.

Or as I do:  Disable the app platform entirely.

Did I make it in before all the comments about how only losers play?  Please let me have made it before all he holier than thou wow players.

I played it for a while (telephone only, no begging for anything on facebook) and the completely random nature of a few levels made me stop. "You have 25 moves to clear all Jelly, a goal which your random starting distribution of coloured candies made impossible." You waste a bit on that until you get that one configuration out of 5 which is actually solvable and then I quit after the third level in which that happened.

/never really looked back

Was the article actually an advertisement or a warning?

Anybody else think it's ironic the majority of people playing these phone games are the exact people who would shiat on this game 20 years ago?

makes you wonder who is being played, the game or the gamer?

One of the guys I work with was raving about this new kind of game he discovered called "Tower Defense"  It's like these people have been out of touch with entertainment for 2 decades but calling them on it only makes you the odd man out.

Put me in the 'I just disable it and agressively block people who hit me' group.

You're not nearly important enough to piss me off, thanks.

The cool kids all moved on from WOW. They are playing TF2, LoL, GW2 while waiting for ESO

It's easy to become the most popular game ever when you're being advertised in pretty much every other game out there.

My mom plays Candy Crush now, and she's the one who bought Columns for us kids back when Genesis was a thing.

True, but you can only afford to advertise so heavily if your average new user gives you more income than the cost of ads to recruit a new user.

Great article. Just added Candy to my growing list of blocked apps.

Another blocker here. My FB feed is relatively clean, and I have over 300 apps blocked. I block them the moment they appear dumping crap into my feed or the moment someone sends me a request.

Now, if only there were some way to disable the "Some-page-I've-never-heard-of is talking about Some-page-I-Liked" functionality that has appeared. If I wanted other people's stuff in my feed, I'd seek them out and "like" them as well. As it stands, I can only block them as they come up.

I've lost track of how many times my iPhone browser has been hijacked here on Fark and directed to the AppStore for this thing. It's happened on other sites, too, but usually here.

Hasn't happened for awhile, although with this article I'm sure it will again.

This.

Although the sheer number of apps to block was very annoying.

I don't care for the "you should like this page because you once mentioned chocolate chip macaroni and cheese in a post 3 years ago!" My newsfeed takes long enough to scroll through without crap like that taking it up.

/looking forward to whatever ends up replacing facebook.
//I like keeping up with my family and friends, but I can't be taking forever to do it. Just a quick skim is enough, thanks.

I play chess on my phone. Computers are more accessible than 20 years ago. I was one of the few kids in 2nd grade who was experienced with a computer. I tried to hide it from my classmates because I didn't want them to think I was a nerd.

Meh, it's a fun thing to do when on the toilet.

I don't see what's so great about it. How is it different from any other "easy-to-play, hard-to-master puzzle game" that came before it with the same type "match three" gameplay?
