Isn't that the standard rule if you're working with any kind of social justice or environmental group? The guy making the most noise about radical action is most likely to be the police infiltrator?

If it weren't for the cops, there'd be no domestic terrorism.

This is what happens when courts allow "sting" operations, and other forms of entrapment.

Doesn't this story piss you off?  Don't you wish you had the BALLS to DO SOMETHING about it?  Tell me in detail what you want to do, right into my lapel flower.

Why the hell are cops infiltrating Greenpeace?

Security theater. Gotta keep people afraid somehow. "If the police were watching this group then they must have been up to something!". And targeting non-violent groups, even when there are many violent ones that could be mopped up, creates the impression that it is a valuable use of resources to go after them, which further drives home the idea that they are dangerous, which slowly shrinks the domain of dissent.

Well but also whilst Greenpeace are a bit of a joke to everyone now, you have to remember they were a pretty big deal in the 80s.  So much of a big deal that the French president ordered an act of terrorism against them in a friendly nation.

Leon Czolgosz, the guy who shot McKinley, kept getting kicked out of anarchist groups because he was so radical that everyone else thought he was a cop.

Security culture 101: If someone's dangerous and reckless, either you kick them out because they're a cop, or you kick them out because they're dangerous and reckless.

Loren: I wonder if McDonalds will turn around and sue the cops.

McDonalds and Greenpeace should sue the cops over this.

sigdiamond2000: This is effing hilarious. It cost McDonalds millions of dollars and it made fascist cops look like idiots. These activists couldn't have pulled off something like this on their own in a million years.
