If Earth were really threatened with destruction by aliens, it seems like Americans would be a lot more involved in the fighting.

Yeah, maybe the glowing blue rock "chose" these 4 people, but it seems pretty risky to only have 4 people fighting back against the aliens.

I got the live action Space Battleship Yamato a couple of years ago and I thought it was very well done. I'm hoping to see this too as Battle of the Planets and Starblazers were favorites of mine back in the late 70s.

I'm excited, mainly because I've always been a fan of the works of "Bump Of Chicken"

Never really got into the cartoon.

Back in the early '80s my sister had a Battle of the Planets lunch box. Mine was KISS, and I'm still mad at my mom for throwing it away.

I don't get it. Maybe they could add a talking robot to explain what's going on in English.

In Japanese cinema the Americans are either the bad guy or the cause of the crisis in the movie. Nuking a country will do that.

Americans are the underlying cause of most foreign movie crisises.

That actually looks pretty good.  I was expecting slightly dated special effects since I don't think the Japanese studios are still quite up to par with the US ones.  But this was not bad at all.  I will look forward to seeing this.  I wonder how long we'll have to wait for a subtitled release.

Those actors and actresses have the acting range of Kristin Stewart.

Seriously, they all had the same expression (mild disapproval) for the entire trailer except for that one bit where one girl was trying to cry on cue.

Wow, they even look bored and pissed off while they're making out.

Sleeping in the Phoenix; the fat, lazy bastard...

No, he was in there. He's thick, but noy overly chubby like in the anime.

And yes, looks good, can't wait for an English sub version.

So I guess that cgi Gatchaman movie is dead.

Bummer ;_;

My ringtone has been Battle of the Planets for the past 10 years lol.  I'm still stuck in the 80s.

Love me some 80s japanese cartoons.

Nice to see that Japan is as much on a nostalgia kick as the US is.

Just need a Live Action Gundam movie now (No, G-Savior was a p.o.s. and does not qualify).

Bump of Chicken is a rock band.  They're doing the theme song that's playing in the second half of the trailer.

Chicken as in a weak person, not as in the animal.

/Not even close to the weirdest Japanese band name

Man, I hope so. I was a fan of "Battle of the Planets", in part because I was, as a young boy, a really intelligent stutterer. I could relate to Keyop. Lost the stutter, kept the fandom.
