He shoulda been gone.

3 things of note here:

1. Rick Perry is an idiot

2. He probably didn't do it by mistake, keeping kids from becoming educated anyway possible is not a mistake by the GOP. An educated populace doesn't bode well for the party

3. Since it's referred to in the headline, you know this one already

2013-06-21 03:56:33 PM
what a moron.

Kind a guy who accidentally sticks his dick in the wrong hole/person.

Is there a no backsies rule or something?  Why can't you just ask for a new copy and void and shred the one you screwed up on?

2013-06-21 04:00:05 PM
How is Perry supposed to know what he did? Jeeze. give him a break, he just signs the stuff. Ask the Koch Brothers if you want to know if this was supposed to happen.

2013-06-21 04:01:26 PM
Some people believed - emphatically, even - that this man was the best candidate to be President of the United States.

2013-06-21 04:02:24 PM
The legislation focused on shifting enforcement of truancy laws in Texas from the courthouse to the schoolhouse. Rather than ticketing and arresting students, as occurs now, the bill would have required school districts to enact early intervention initiatives, progressively tougher sanctions and counseling to keep students in class.

This is a great move in keeping kids out of the juvenile justice system, which has been repeatedly shown to basically be a pipeline to the prison system. Keeping kids in school drastically improves their chances of a successful future.

I sure hope this was a mistake and it's corrected shortly.

Yes, but I forgot it.

2013-06-21 04:06:45 PM
FTA:He referred questions about the veto to Perry's veto statement, which faulted the bill because it did not track a child from district to district, "which is common for chronically truant students."

So even though it was vetoed accidentally, they knew the exact reason why it was vetoed.  Fascinating.

2013-06-21 04:06:58 PM
According to the article, Perry's veto statement has an issue with kids not being tracked from district to district and refers to truant kids.  So, unless there were two truancy bills on his desk that day, it seems he did this on purpose.  Gotta keep those jails full, you know.

2013-06-21 04:09:57 PM
What I wouldn't give to see someone KHITBASH Rick Perry three or four times in succession.

Every time he opens his mouth he makes this state look even worse. And that's saying something.

2013-06-21 04:10:34 PM
He likely noticed the bill was from a Democrat and vetoed it out of spite for Democrats.

It's like after GWB left the governorship, Texans got together and dared each other to go dumber.

vudukungfu: Kind a guy who accidentally sticks his dick in the wrong hole/person.

Well, this is high-ranking elected memeber of the GOP we're talking about here. He's the kind of guy who knows exactly which hole he's sticking it in

2013-06-21 04:12:06 PM
*mistake*

/sure it was

2013-06-21 04:12:52 PM
It's sad, but Gov. Perry has had so many idiot moments that when I saw his name in the headline I immediately thought, "oh, what now?" I clicked the link and found the expected; another example of Rick Perry continuing to be an embarrassment to his state and the nation to which it belongs.

I sometimes wonder if voters understand the basic concept that those who (whom?) we elect represent us, and not just by how they vote but by how they come across as people. If your representatives are viewed as idiots, don't be surprised when people think their constituents are idiots. Cruz, Perry and their ilk are viewed as idiots, and so many, many Texans are viewed as idiots by those who only see who they choose to represent them.

"Naw, I signed the 'LAUNCH ALL NUKES' order by 'mistake'.  Adios, motherfarkers!'

Vetoing anything that helps teachers and children (after they're born) is just a knee-jerk reaction from Perry.

Texas is a microcosm of the coming demographic shift for the whole country. I think that's why our xenophobes and reactionary teatards  are even zanier than most. Combine that voting bloc of fail and our statewide affinity for loudmouth blowhards and this kind of rampant douchebaggery is the result.

/Can't wait til we turn purple
/I think Cruz worse, but marginally

I wouldn't have expected a bill that helps teachers and children to even make it to Perry's desk. The Texas legislature has ways of shutting that kind of thing down.

Another example of how Republicans will freely admit their mistakes. When will the democrats admit the that they are wrong on thing like the economy, health care, the list war in Syria, taxes, everything? I guess too much butthurt from losing those votes and house seats will do that.

Remember when Obama was quaking in his shoes because Governor Perry might enter the race?  Game Changer!  He has never lost a race.  Job growth.  Energy economy.

Every day should be Iowa Straw Poll day.  Get on the Cain Train!  Choo-Choo!  Marcus Bachmann for First Gentleman.  Herbert Love for President.

People make pithy jokes about these politicians being morons but they still continually get elected. It's not enough to just say, "Oh you!". Stop electing these morons just because they have money, on either side of the aisle.
