ChaosStar: My father in law has an interesting theory about how the serpent in Genesis is really a dragon, which ties in to his interesting theory that the original sin is paternal cannibalism.
He makes a rather compelling argument with the evidence in the scriptures.

So your father-in-law writes jesus fan-fiction?

fireclown: gimmegimme: Well, if you're noting something like Coelacanth, that's fine, but if you're saying that Jack Horner believes that early humans were hanging out with T-Rexes, well, you sillypants.

Yeah.  I'd kind of like to see some backup on that.  Horner doesn't seem like that guy, unless there is some CRAZY out of contextin' going on.

I'm not spoiling the thread since it's been outed already, but we're ALL hanging out with T-Rexes, right now. All birds are descended from theropods, of which T-Rex is one of the most recognizable.

Delawheredad: I AM NOT defending these nut jobs BUT it is very possible that myths of dragons originated in part from dinosaur bones found back when man was more superstitious then MOST folks are today.

Also maybe when man was trippin on mushrooms, ergot fungus or other semi poisonous shamanic 'magic'

Creationist museums are where put creationists and creationist material so that we can teach children about what's wrong with their crazy ideas and all learn from their many mistakes, right?

I should be in the kitchen: So, evolution is a lie "from the pits of hell", but dragons are totes real, y'all.

The Bible speaks of dragons and sorcery and other fantastic things as real.
Kind of an important thing to keep in mind whenever considering it as a reliable source for...well, anything.

Dude, The Flintstones was not a documentary.

Even evolutionists like Jack Horner and Ernst Mayr admit that humans and dinosaurs lived at the same time.  There are a small minority of scientists, like Alan Feduccia and Larry Martin, who deny it, but if you ask most scientists, in private, they will admit that humans and dinosaurs are contemporaries.  The famous evolutionist Jared Diamond has even gone to places like New Guinea in search of living dinosaurs.

Of course humans lived alongside with dinosaurs. We're living with dinosaurs right now. Just look out your window. See all those chirping things with feathers flying through the air?

Were/are there "large repitles" that lived contemporaneous with humans?  Sure, the first settlers of Australia had to contend with 15 foot monitor lizard and gaint sea crocodiles.  But Humans and "dinosuars" ?  Nope. Not even physically possible as the atomosphere doesn't have enough oxygen in it anymore to support megafauna of dinosaur size (also why we no longer see 2 ft long dragonflies, for instance)  the era of the dinosuars started 230 million years ago and ended about 65 million years ago.  Humans have only been around for about 2 million years tops, and that's the entire ancestral tree of mankind, homo sapiens much shorter than that.   Put another way, If the entire 4 billions years of earth's history were represented as a single 24-hour day, Dinos  showed up around 10:15pm and left at 11:30 pm.   Humans didn't even show until  up around 11:59.20 pm  or so

"...biblical creationists are not surprised to uncover clues that ancient man had indeed seen these beasts."

What would surprise them? When you start your premise by assuming your conclusion is true, you won't be surprised when you conclusion agrees with your premise.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The money was probably for roads and other infrastructure. They do the same for stadiums and malls. Tourist tax dollars are good even if it comes from stupid people.

While this is amazingly ignorant and silly, I would love to see a good study on how dinosaur myths might be tied to ancient people's discovery of fossils and constructing the myths around them. I've always assumed that was the origin of them, since most dragon myths are diverse enough on their "stories" but consistent in their rendering ( and resemblance to dinosaur skeletal counterparts )

They're proof of natural selection as it is apparent that they have failed to evolve with the rest of the world.
