When will people learn it's easy to steal the first few times and get away with it, but ongoing and over a few million bucks?  You're going to get caught.

Only 2.8m? Must be the older editions.

Speaker2Animals: +1 subby.

It's funny because it's true.

Worse is when they won't buy those motherfarkers back because they've "updated to the new edition".

It was only about 20 text books. Don't worry, they and me sold back for $1.50

The fact he apparently used them to fund his 'high end furnishings' addiction makes this even more sad....

What the Wiley salesman's mugshot may look like:

but I have to say, 20 years really seems like they are throwing the book at him

Idiots. This is what you do. Steal as much as you can. Use some of the money to cover up your tracks. Like distractions. See, a well crafted distraction will buy you time and perhaps even a way out.

Anyway, they key is DO NOT SPEND THE MONEY until you leave the company.  This way you don';t raise suspicions and IF you get caught, you can always play dumb. "what do you mean embezzeled. The money is just misplaced"

Once you leave the company, use some of the money to disappear.

/tell people that you won't be sending post cards from Paraguay.

No. I just need to proof better. Farking from work, so lingering can lead to an annoyed boss.

/Left the Coyote jokes for the comments.

listed his own home address and other addresses that he controlled as alternate shipping addresses

It's really surprising they could catch such a master of subterfuge.

Knew before I read TFA that it wasn't the rep with whom I've spent over a month trying to get a copy of a book I'm using in my fall courses.  That farker can't even place an order without making everything FUBAR.

That's some crazy right there. I see stuff like that though and I have to ask, how did the husband not know? I just find it hard to believe you don't notice your spouse spending $34 million. Also, she has to pay it back in $500 installments? That's what, around 5700 years of payments.

Long past college age, but I wonder if there's a website or two that would reveal the names of professors (like a friend who teaches journalism) who work without textbooks, teaching from handouts, or common literary works.

Have to look it up, some "custom" textbook which is normally just a reprint of specific chapters from another book.  Last time the book the chapters were pulled from was $80 cheaper than the "custom" one.

He had a good job, too--a doctor or something.  They spent money like rich people and he supposedly never paid much attention to the details.  Plus, she literally had a warehouse she hid purchases and just visited them.
