Belichick: Mr.  Kraft we are going to need a tight end this year, can we go check the free agent market?
Kraft: No need Bill, no need.  See, we are going to take the New York Jets third string quarterback and turn him into tight end.
Belichick: A tight end? Has he ever actually caught a ball or blocked in a game?
Kraft: I don't know.............HE'S A WINNER!
Belichick: You know Dallas Clark is a free agent.  Former All Pro. Statistically about the same as Hernandez although in a worse team
Kraft: (long silence) Yeah....but Tebow's a WINNER!

rickythepenguin: IlGreven: Well, there's a difference between an accidental vehicular homicide and a straight-up murder.

uhh....i'm not banging the drum as to why Hernandez shouldn't be suspended....I'm just pointing out the last time an active NFL player was caught up in someone dying, it was a year.  and yyeah, while stallwroth was legally intoxicated, i somewhat recall the victim crossing against the signal (?)  if those factors (whether i'm rigth or wrong) merited one year, you'd think willful acts not perhaps clouded by alcohol and/or the other person's bad decisions, would be more.

and once again, if is "only" obstruction of justice, how Atlanta courts treated that 12-13 years ago versus how MA courts treat that in 2013 (lewis was convicted of obsturction of justice) may be different.  we all know lewis walked from a criminal standpoint.  welp, guns and gun-related crimes are treated differently in teh south than they are in the northeast.  if you don't believe me, ask Plaxico Burress.

Yeah, still when reports come out about how the home security system was intentionally trashed and the cell phone is given to detectives in pieces, Aaron might just cop to it, serve his time and be done with it.

you may recall the NFL thread where I got a mix of "oh my god!" and "wow dude, too soon" when i posted the KC Chiefs injury report:

joe blow, qb, probable (knee)
john smith, cb, questionable (elbow)
Jovan Belcher, dl, out, (9mm)

i'm reading Massachusetts law (chap 268, sec 1 perjury, 13B) as

".....shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than 2 1/2 years in a jail or house of correction or not more than 10 years in a state prison, or by a fine of not less than $1,000 nor more than $5,000. "

massachusetts law looks all over the map on this issue though, some punishments are longer (for example, concealing a felony is i think max of 5 years if the underlying crime's sentence is life in prison), but some are only a month.

did you see where -- i just learned of this last week -- during the NBA season, there was a game where Pop rested Tim Duncan, and Pop got the official scorer to put, "tim duncan, DNP (old)" on the official game report? that is farking hilarious.  apparently tim rolled with it.

god i can't wait for the NFL.  it is a sickness.

i drove by the cards complex about a week ago, saw my boys in red all suited up and practicing.  well, shorts, jerseys, and helmets (no pads), but still.

Nope, it's absolutely unprecedented and completely impossible for College Quarterbacks to change position in the NFL.  They shouldn't even try with Tebow it's just wasting time.  I mean look at what happened to Sanchez!

Brian Mitchell  (Ridiculous Speed, Tebow does not have)
Antwaan Randal El (A 50/50 run/pass QB who also has ridiculous speed)
Anquan Boldin (Played WR in college)
Josh Cribbs (Lead in team in rushing and passing, was NEVER projected to be an NFL QB)
Julian Edelman  (Also never projected to be an NFL QB, led his team in rushing his Senior year, played Special Teams as well in college)

/I'll take "Irrelevant Cherry Picking for $500 Alex"

js34603: Maybe maybe maybe, he could have switched coming out of college and been working on that position these last few years. But he didn't, so it isn't happening now, and it doesn't matter how many former option QBs who became WRs in the NFL you list. Tebow isn't like them.

So there are at least three people on Fark that don't think Tim Tebow is a class athlete, yet he has the similar speed, better vertical leap, better bench press and similar broad Jump to Julian Edelman.  He had better combine results than the following NFL Tight Ends drafted in 2010 in the 40, Shuttle, Vertical, Broad, and Cones.

Dennis Pitta
Jermaine Gresham
Rob Gronkowski
Anthony McCoy
Garrett Graham

But you may be correct.  He may not be able to catch or learn how to Zone Block.  Surely Bill Belichick has never made a college QB turned WR into a defensive end before.

Beerguy: I wonder if Hernandez knows that destroying his security system does not really accomplish anything other than to make him look like he has something to cover up.

If the system was being remotely monitored (most likely), all of the zone signals and alarm history is discoverable via subpoena from the security company.

Any CCTV footage would have been stored to a local hard drive, which, unless he drilled holes into it and then threw it into a lake is more than likely still recoverable via computer forensics. If he was having the footage backed up to cloud storage, he is hosed.

/15 years Security Management experience

I going to say that he didn't know that. Hell I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 80% of people don't know that. Hell most people think that if you break the computer monitor to have destroyed the computer. They don't realize that there is way more to this stuff than the physical pieces that they touch and interact with, and don't have idea about the cloud or how cell phone companies keep logs of calls.

Actually, I'm starting to think this is the real story. Especially given the other incident in florida.

Accidentally shoots guy in the face in his house, gets friends to dump the body nearby. That would explain pretty much everything - phone calls for help, home security footage of the incident, drunken partying, etc.

What is the penalty for unlawful discharge, negligence, and manslaughter? 10 years minimum?

When I first heard this story that is what I thought happened also, a bunch of drunks goofing around with a gun and one of them accidentally gets shot and the rest panic. But after I heard about the other guy in Florida and the fact the guy was shot in the back of the head, I started to question that. Then it came out that their girlfriends were sisters. I'm thinking this started as a fight between the two over something to do with their girlfriends, and Hernandez pulled his gun, seems he likes to do that in fights, and the other guy either turned to run or walk of and Hernandez shot him. I could be wrong, but i seriously doubt this had anything to do with drugs and was a heat of the moment hot head type thing by Hernandez.

Dallas Clark runs a 4.65 40.  He is a former All Pro Tight End who was a top 20 tight end last year.  He is a free agent. Why would you waste time and effort teaching Tebow a position he has never played hoping it might work out when you can go get him?

Aaron never struck me as the brightest bulb at UF. He's more of a pot head.

Sadly, I think this is more or less a Pineapple Express thing. Somehow Aaron's weed man got into some sort of trouble and he tried to help out (rental car). When things went south, Aaron called his manager with the "My weed guy just got murdered" update and the manager called in the cleaners, had the security and phone trashed.

As for the guy suing because he was shot in the face...why weren't the cops called and why only sue for $100,000?

Hmm...this is a possible Seth Rogan movie script in the works!

rickythepenguin: IlGreven: Well, there's a difference between an accidental vehicular homicide and a straight-up murder.

uhh....i'm not banging the drum as to why Hernandez shouldn't be suspended....I'm just pointing out the last time an active NFL player was caught up in someone dying, it was a year.  and yyeah, while stallwroth was legally intoxicated, i somewhat recall the victim crossing against the signal (?)  if those factors (whether i'm rigth or wrong) merited one year, you'd think willful acts not perhaps clouded by alcohol and/or the other person's bad decisions, would be more.

and once again, if is "only" obstruction of justice, how Atlanta courts treated that 12-13 years ago versus how MA courts treat that in 2013 (lewis was convicted of obsturction of justice) may be different.  we all know lewis walked from a criminal standpoint.  welp, guns and gun-related crimes are treated differently in teh south than they are in the northeast.  if you don't believe me, ask Plaxico Burress.

...and Burress was not given any suspension by the NFL, either.

When the dumb shiat gets hisself a two year prison 'NFL suspension', Darth Goody doesn't really need to do much, does he? Especially since that piece of work "I vill ban your soda" dickbag was going to the media inside of 24 hours calling on the DA to make an example of him.
