I'll have "Call Girlie Face Flooding" for a thousand.

It's "Calgary Faces Flooding," for one hundred.

+1 for headline.

But, yah, I'm so glad when I moved here I built on high ground. I remember it was one thing I was looking for when we picked our location.

If the floodwaters increase, you'll be a Montana resident.

Literal guffaw when seeing this headline. +1 indeed.

As an Ontario douche-bag I will say that Calgary needed a bath anyway.
Toronto could use a scrub as well.

Power is out at my house. The neighbourhood next to mine was evacuated as it is in the valley with the power river. My place is 100ft up on the ridge. I'v lived here all my life and I've never seen the Bow flood like this. A couple of clients have lost their home automation systems in the water so I guess I'll be busy for a few months.
Also, a flash flood warning just came over the radio for just outside the city as I type this. It's crazy!

I'm on the slope of Nose Hill so no flooding here, but I'll be off work today and trying to help out where I can.

Stay high and dry, my fellow Calgarians.

I grew up in High River, so I've seen some flooding in my time, but never like what happened there yesterday.

I live and work in the Northeast of Calgary, so I'm at work right now telling everybody who calls in no one else is really here and that we might not be able to do much in the way of shipping stuff. Right now they're trying to figure out who is open. I don't see a problem though of them delivering to the Foothills Industrial Park if our clients are open.

Most of the employees all live south of the Bow and have been told not to cross the bridges by the City.

Thankfully all my friends and family are currently safe and sound

Stay safe, fellow Calgarians.

/love the headline. I read it with Darrell Hammond's Sean Connery voice in my head.
// was anyone else having issues with phone and SMS last night? My internet was working, I have no landline, but family members who do have landlines were unreachable, and my SMS was hit and miss.

My family was trying to reach me yesterday on my home phone line and couldn't get through, same with my brother.
The phone system was overloaded for sure.

So if Toronto called in the Army to deal with a civic weather issue, does Calgary have to call in the Navy?

+1 on the headline, I literally LOL'ed...HOTY candidate...

Stay safe, you hosers, eh?

I was shocked this morning when The Current mentioned that THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF HIGH RIVER (13 000) was evacuated. Holy shiat.

Yikes. Unforunately we're probably going to see more extreme hydrologic events with climate change so...invest in construction companies?

I've taken in a few evacuees here at my place in Killarney.  I have clients in the downtown core that are about to lose power.

Calgary actually has a naval base. Yeah, it was one of those WTF things to me.

A quick Googles claims 75k from Calgary as well. Jeeze. My mom's between Lethbridge and High River and she's talking to me on the phone right now (siiiigh) complaining that she lost internet. Ahh, mothers, ya know?

You're a good person. I know one of my friends is bunking with another, and several of my friends are opening their extra rooms for folks. I'm glad.

Yes, CNN, it is only in Calgary. It's not in the southern third of the province at all.

Someone should tell the DoD that the 'Inland Sea' was over 65 million years ago.

They might think the entire southern third of the province IS Calgary. Just like how I'm supposed to know whatshisname in Toronto because I'm Canadian and so is he.

Turns out I did know him. We went to university together.

/It's raining again.

To steal a soon to be famous quote: Welcome to Western Canada in June. Now called Monsoon season.

/Oh and news retardos..... The moisture came mainly from the Pacific and not 100% from gulf of Mexico.
//Such an awesome weather event with all sorts of layers of air currents stirring the pot of Monsoon soup.

Well, off to get supplies.

And by supplies, I mean liquor.

Stay safe, Calgary Farkers.

Holy f*ck!

They have to take the lions from the zoo and put them in the jail cells at the courthouse because the zoo is flooded.

The water shelf at the local Safeway.

We're lucky; we're in Signal Hill and high up and away from the flooding. Still, it's really quite heartbreaking seeing the images. Best to my fellow Calgarians and Albertans.

+1 Subby.

This is just before Stampede too.

Langdon Alger: Calgarians....sounds like an alien race from Star Trek

Well, they are pretty alien to the majority of Canadians.
