hmmm.

The Poet and the Pendulum possibly.
At one point in my life, possibly Forgiven (warning: heartbreaking).

Actually, I don't want a song played at my funeral. Why remind my family of it every time they hear it somewhere?

Random Anonymous Blackmail: Alice in Chains  Nutshell

Acoustic heavily drugged out Layne version

If you're going to do a Layne song, how about  River of Deceit?

Sofa King Smart: If I happen to die in a motorcycle wreck...   Vincent Black Lightning by Del McCoury Band

Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world
Beats a 52 Vincent and a red headed girl
Now Nortons and Indians and Greeveses won't do
They don't have a soul like a Vincent 52
He reached for her hand and he slipped her the keys
He said I've got no further use for these
I see angels on Ariels in leather and chrome
Swooping down from heaven to carry me home
And he gave her one last kiss and died
And he gave her his Vincent to ride

Heathen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5V0RkCIaXo

Now for my wife's funeral, I'd request http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB2Sqd3EiY4

There will be a playlist for when they have my wake:

-"Seasons of Love", from Rent
-The Indiana Jones theme (the full, eight minute version)
-"Photograph" by Nickelback (if only to piss people off)
-"Greenback Boogie" by Ima Robot
-"Some Nights" by Fun. (Especially for the bit about "wish that this all would end")
-"I Don't Feel Like Dancing" by Scissor Sisters
-"Song of the South" by Alabama
-"Welcome to Paradise" by Green Day

Of course, my wake would be at a bar, and everyone would be required to wear a rainbow flag pin and asked to make a donation to the Human Rights Campaign. I'd have an open bar, and all my friends would be given the opportunity to tell every horrifyingly funny story (good or bad, bad being preferred) about me.

Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush."If I only could, I'd be running up that hill.
If I only could, I'd be running up that hill."

It doesn't hurt me.
Do you want to feel how it feels?
Do you want to know that it doesn't hurt me?
Do you want to hear about the deal that I'm making?
You, it's you and me.

And if I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building.
If I only could, oh

You don't want to hurt me,
But see how deep the bullet lies.
Unaware I'm tearing you asunder.
Ooh, there is thunder in our hearts.

Is there so much hate for the ones we love?
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?
You, it's you and me.
It's you and me won't be unhappy.

And if I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building,
Say, if I only could, oh...

You,
It's you and me,
It's you and me won't be unhappy.

"C'mon, baby, c'mon darling,
Let me steal this moment from you now.
C'mon, angel, c'mon, c'mon, darling,
Let's exchange the experience, oh"

And if I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.

And if I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.

And if I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.

If I only could
Be running up that hill
With no problems

If I only could, I'd be running up that hill."muahahahahahaha        =]

Dancin_In_Anson: mamarita is under strict instructions that there is to be no 'traditional' funeral. The only thing that I ask is that I be cremated (they won't let me be dumped in my pasture for the birds of the air and the beasts of the field to dispose of me) and do with my ashes as they see fit and that any money that would have been spent on a funeral be spent on BBQ and beer for any and all who wish to continue the fun life I have led (Fark is invited)....and if there was one song to be played, may it be this.

This.

Plus, everyone gets to fight in those big sumo suits to see who gets my shiat.

abfalter: "Hit The Road, Jack"

I've told my wife I want this played at the end of my memorial service.  She's a pastor so she has reservations but I think she'll do it.
Unfortunately, even my rotting corpse won't be there to enjoy it because I've already filled out a directive for it to go science and/or for organ donation.

/I've wanted this ever since seeing it on Red Dwarf.

And I want at least four of my friends to sing both "Libera Me" and "In Paradisum" from Gabriel Faure's Requiem. It is, after all, written in four parts.

Can I get a sweet tenor to sin"Amazing Grace," too? It's a classic for a reason.

CSB\NCSB......

My fiance and I got in a car accident (14 years ago) and she didn't make it. Her parents were kind enough to let me pick out the song that played. I chose "Wildflowers" by Tom Petty and I have never regretted it.

As for me, I would probably choose "Restless Farewell" by Bob Dylan

Six More Miles version by The Residents.

I always thought it'd be funny to use some crunching doom metal song like Draconian's 'The Quiet Storm' followed by some tearjerking Gothic song like Within Temptation's 'Our Farewell'. My Bible thumping family would cringe in horror, then cry uncontrollably.

I find something about that idea highly amusing.

Haven't heard any of his "new" music.  Didn't really catch on to Seven's Travels or If Life Gives You Lemons.  Just not a big fan of the "sound", so I can't really even give the songs an honest opinion.

Grew up in the Twin Cities, so I've been a big fan of Atmos for about 15 years, well at least up until God Loves Ugly...
