Let's just save time and list the things that aren't considered acts of terrorism nowadays.

I think the best way to handle these stupid statements is to laugh at them for at least a few minutes.  All the while making comments like stop it or I'm gonna pee my pants.  No one likes being laughed at and if you laugh at them long enough no one will take them seriously ever again.

Butt said the water issue had been marred by "communication breakdowns" by both sides, which wouldn't be made easier with such inflammatory comments being made.

He later added, "It's always the same, I'm having a nervous breakdown, drive me insane."

What a dipshiat bureaucrat... comments like that erode what little public trust his office may have held to tenuously.

Again, what a dipshiat

For what purpose would you use such a list? Would you attempt to use listed activities as a cover for actual plans for terrorism, citizen?

No can do, listing things that aren't considered an act of terrorism is in itself an act of terrorism.

So freedom of speech is considered an act of terrorism, at least in Tennessee.

The water here does taste kind of funny.  Everything we drink in my household is filtered through a Brita pitcher

Part of me kinda wants to say...  That's not a bad idea.

You ever work in an industry that had to deal with crack pots claiming that because your company was putting in a new bridge, their water supply six miles away was poisoned?  Maybe not terrorist, but I wanted those idiots charged with SOMETHING.

Just a heads up. There is an ongoing scam in middle Tennessee where certain people drum up unfounded concerns in the hopes of improving sales of in home water treatment options. http://www.midtennwaterproblem.com/

Although the statement is no less derpy because of this, I think they are just sick of dealing with the backlash.

One low level bureaucrat in a backwater county in the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation would like residents to know that complaining about water quality is an act of terrorism.

If any peon can declare an action terrorism than what oversight exists for NSA or anything?  This is why the NSA can't have nice things.  Assume EVERY system will be abused.  What happened to that cute chick that all the cops were looking up on the police database?

Deputy Director Smith is a reasonably senior state official.

How high up would it go before you'd take the threat of prosecution seriously?

Americans use "terrorism" the way Smurfs use "smurf."

/Which, by the rules, makes all Americans terrorists.

Umm... Nashville is the State Capital. Of course, that does not change that fact that it is in a backwater county, as the entire state is pretty backwards most of the time.

I am somewhat speechless that this guy said what he said, regardless of the charges on here of inflated complaints to sell filters or the possibility of whiny, under-informed citizens (Of which Maury county has more than a few). To insinuate what he did is akin to saying "Fark off!" Regardless of possible misuse of the process, to threaten people with the prospect of prosecution on that level is a dodge of the highest order.

/Man, I can't wait to move away from here!
//Of course, thanks to this crappy state, I cannot afford to move away from here... they suck you in and the sucking won't let you get away...

The Libertarian view is that the free market will take care of that as it magically always does.  Funny how many Libertarians are anti-religious yet see the free market as their god.

Butt, who organized the meeting, also was shocked.

This surprised me. I assumed TN had some kind of anti-sodomy laws. I guess that's why it's called "the Shocker," though.

hmmmm. I thought that Tennessee had closed the Department of the Environment? Or at least castrated it for harming profits of the owners of government.

This is for payattention too- phone won't let me quite both of you.

You're right. I misunderstood- I thought he was deputy director only for that county, not the Deputy Director who happens to be from Maury County.

I've only lived in Tennessee for a few years though so I'm not sure how much influence a guy like that has.
