Doing it without permit adds fuel to the adrenaline fire that gives base jumping it's appeal in the first place.

Blase by now...fly through the building, you pussies.

Why is this legally punishable? Doesn't Chicago PD have better things to do, and if they don't shouldn't we get rid of some of them.

I understand it's "trespassing" but that isn't what these guys get charged with. Why prosecute an activity that (other then the people participating) doesn't endanger anybody else?

Walters said he was part of a small and elusive thrill-seeking community of BASE jumpers attracted to Chicago on good weather days in the spring and summer because of its numerous skyscrapers.

"I can't resist it," Walters told the Tribune.

We can't all be brain surgeons and rocket scientists.

So edgy, so Xtreme.  Makes me want to feed the rush by pouring a Mountain Dew down the hatch while pretending it's a Surge.

It doesn't endanger anyone else until their chutes don't open and they land on a group of Girl Scouts.

/think of the children
//or their chutes do open and the get slammed into the building.

I MAY or may not recognize one of those guys from my skydiving days.

So, if you were sitting in your home and three guys walked in through your front door, went upstairs, climbed out on the roof and then jumped off and ran away you would not call the cops?  You would just sit there and say, "Why prosecute an activity that does not endanger anybody else"?

How the hell is this a protip, jokingly or otherwise?

I think my reaction to that would be the same as if I'd just walked in to find my border terrier had pooped in the refrigerator and ate an entire wheel of cheese.

What they did was a wee bit different than walking into someone's house.

Hint 1: If you're going to use the old "Protip" headline, try actually listing a tip in it.

Hint 2: Stop using the old "Protip" headline, it's stupid and way overused.

I was thinking more along the lines of hearing your car alarm going off and some skydiver is in the roof of your car.

Or you're out for a walk and thump the dude lands on you.

Or you're driving big truck down the road when thwack, you just set a new record for biggest bug on windshield.

Or you find the base jumper impaled on something during your morning commute.

Chicago's Police Chief Wiggum wants the help of the people to find these guys? He doesn't ask for help to solve other crimes in the city like rapes and murders. Oh wait, there is no crime in the city ever since Wiggum was hired on by Mayor Weasel.

Not really.  Private property is still private property.
