Kid doesn't look any happier than he did in the first pic.

2013-06-20 09:08:26 PM
What's heartbreaking about the first pic??

2013-06-20 09:09:24 PM
I don't really get the problem with the first picture, other than maybe they could have brought the chair a bit closer.  If the kid prefers the second, then good.

2013-06-20 09:09:45 PM
Can he dodge a wrench?

2013-06-20 09:10:26 PM
Taking him out of his chair and attempting to sit him up on the bench for something as pointless as a class photo also imposes a liability risk on the school. At least when they did it this time, the mother's hysterical ranting would have given them some measure of a defense in court if he fell.

Lorelle: What's heartbreaking about the first pic??

Good question.

That'd be a bit hard for me.  Balance sucks on a bench.  Keep me in my chair please!

So instead of being shown to be an independent individual, now he gets to be photographed as so dependent upon others that he has to be propped up for the photo.

Having seen both pix, I like this one better. He's just one of the rest of the happy little kids in this pic. In the previous pic, he was a single happy little kid in a wheelchair placed 5 feet away from the rest of the kids.

Mainstream or not. There is not try.

It's creepy because they didn't really cover the faces, you can still see them in the white, it makes it just odd

I was wondering why they didn't just park his chair up in the middle with the other kids around him.  I'm a complete amateur, and even I could think of at least three different places to place him in a picture that wouldn't be insulting, but also wouldn't completely unbalance the picture.

It might have been difficult for the people in the picture to see how distant his chair was and how it would look in the picture.

The photographer should have caught it. That's his or her job.

Honestly, it doesn't exactly look like a professional.  It's more like one of the teachers or parents had a $500 DSLR, used the built in flash, and took a picture.  For them, getting everyone in the same shot was probably good enough.

Kudos to the school for just re-taking the picture without a fuss and not suspending the boy because the wheelchair batteries could possibly be used to make a BOMB!!

Well, at some point the time you've wasted trying to figure out what the monumentally idiotic person with no self awareness complaining to you is actually babbling about, you've got to figure that the time invested to decipher their syphilitic ranting makes the time to just pull the kids out for ten minutes and snap another picture trivial by contrast.

Second one's better. Most disabled students are separated too much from the other students, IMO. You don't have to do it with a little boy in a class photo.

if you just let the kid SUE them like he planned he could have afforded a rocket powered wheelchair like TIMMAAAH!!
